The days are so full that there is hardly time to run. Therefore, today something different.

Online work and travel

I do live in Airbnb most of the time, simply because I don't want to worry about electricity and internet and with Airbnb I have a real power in my back.

But I can get around personal security as well.
If you want to leave the apartment carefree and be sure that everything is still there, who cares about a monitoring system.

Mine consists of an old cell phone with a data plan, a power bank, a router that I use as a repeater, and a surveillance app. I use the Alfred camera in the free basic version. Recordings are motion-dependent and work even at night, but a small lamp should be on.
Thus, I have an online - monitoring, even in case of power failure. Even if the intruder takes the phone, it's too late, the video is already in the cloud. It is also data saving. Thanks to the router, the upload works via Wi-Fi, only when the Wi-Fi fails, it resorts to mobile upload.
A lifestream feature it has as well. You can look live into the room with your cell phone and even talk.
If you show this to the landlord, 90% of hotel thefts are prevented.

A side effect is that thanks to USB tethering you can stay online if the Wi-Fi fails, e.g. because of a power outage.
And the last good side effect, depending on the router you can make your own subnet so dense that the wifi owner never sees more than the router.

Onlinearbeiten und reisen

Ich lebe ja meist in Airbnb, ganz einfach, weil ich mich um Strom und Internet nicht kümmern will und mit Airbnb eine wirkliche Macht in meinem Rücken habe.

Aber um eine persönliche Absicherung komme auch ich herum.
Wenn man sorgenfrei das Apartment verlassen will und dabei sicher sein will, dass noch alles da ist, der kümmert sich um eine Überwachungsanlage.

Meine besteht aus einem alten Handy mit Datentarif, einer Powerbank, einem Router, den ich als Repeater einsetze und einer Überwachungs-App. Ich nutze die Alfred-Kamera in der kostenlosen Basisversion. Aufnahmen sind bewegungsabhängig und funktionieren selbst nachts, eine kleine Lampe sollte allerdings an sein.
Somit habe ich eine online - Überwachung, selbst bei Stromausfall. Auch wenn der Eindringling das Handy mitnehmen sollte, es ist zu spät, das Video ist bereits in der Cloud. Daten sparend ist es auch. Dank des Routers funktioniert der Upload per Wi-Fi, erst wenn das Wi-Fi ausfällt, greift er auf mobilen Upload zurück.
Ein Lifestreamfunktion hat es auch. Man kann mit seinem Handy live ins Zimmer schauen und sogar sprechen.
Wenn man dieses dem Vermieter vorführt, sind 90% der Hoteldiebstähle verhindert.

Ein Nebeneffekt ist, dass man dank USB-Tethering weiter online bleibt, wenn das Wi-Fi ausfällt, z.B. wegen Stromausfall.
Und der letzte gute Nebeneffekt, je nach Router kann man sein eigenes Subnetz so dicht machen, dass der Wifi-Eigentümer nie mehr als den Router sieht.
