My Actifit Report Card: March 4 2023 - Walking in the snow / 雪の中を歩く

It's been a crazy week. We started with the sudden drop in temperature down to -5 Celsius and had snowfall last weekend. Monday was alright. I managed to go to work despite some snow left on the ground. I took my daily walk as usual as well.
But the weather turned on us from Monday night to Tuesday morning. We woke up this.

いつもバタバタしていますが今週は特にバタバタな1週間でした。
先週末に気温が氷点下になってから雪、そしてまた雪なバンクーバーです。月曜日は良かったんです、雪は残っていましたが問題なく仕事に向かえました。
問題は火曜日に起こりました。月曜日の夜から降り始めた雪がさらに積もったのです。

I checked the bus schedule and it said it was running ok. I checked my email. I didn't receive the snow day announcement from the school. My boss didn't text me about how much snow he got. Our city was saying they were ready for snow this year.
So, I sent my daughter to school and headed to work as usual.
Well, the first photo was the view from my bus stop. The bus was running behind, but it came. I usually head out early so I made it to my other bus stop to catch another bus, but this one was behind. I needed to catch the ferry to go to work. It looked like I would almost not make it to the ferry, but I could take the next ferry, so I went.
It wasn't a good idea. The bus couldn't even leave downtown. It got stuck. The vehicle in front of the bus was stuck too. After waiting and seeing what's going on in the bus for 30 minutes. I asked the bus driver to let us off. Here was the view in front of the bus. It leads to the bridge.

朝起きてすぐにバスのスケジュールをチェックしましたが問題なく運行している様子。メールもチェック。娘の学校からは休校の連絡は来ていません。勤め先のボスからも連絡なし。市も毎度、雪には備えていると言っている（信じてはいけない）ので普段通り出かけました。
上の写真は近所のバス停からの風景です。道路に雪がたくさんありましたがバスは来ました。何とか乗り継ぎのバス停にも着きました。バスは遅れていましたが次のフェリーでも良いと思ったのでバスに乗りました。
こういう時は無理をして出かけないほうが良いのでしょうか？けれど皆仕事に行かないとならないので出かけますよね？生活かかってますし。
バスはダウンタウンを出る事さえ出来ませんでした。20センチ弱の雪ですよ！？！？！前の車も動けなくなった様子でした。何が起こっているのかバスの運転手から説明もないまま３０分。我慢したほうだと思います。今日は無理だなと思ったのでバスから下ろしてもらえるように頼んで外へ出ました。写真は私が乗っていたバスの前の風景です。この先は橋なのですが渋滞していました。

I saw police cars coming and blocking the street to the bridge as I get off the bus. I've heard the bus driver saying that the buses in this city weren't wearing snow tires. Someone said that there were only two snow plows in this city as well.
Hmmm... I thought the city was ready for the snow this year. They said the same thing last year too. They rather have the police block the street so that people can't get to work than invest in clearing the snow so we can get to work with no worries. Interesting...
Anyways, I couldn't get to work. My boss told me they had about a foot of snow. He's been busy plowing his property. He always tells me this after I leave my house. The bus wasn't running, so I walked home. It took me about 90 minutes to get home.

What surprised me was that walking home didn't bother me at all. It was snowing, but I wasn't feeling cold. It was like taking my daily walk. Thanks to walking with Move2Earn for almost one year, I think my body was trained to walk.

My daughter came back from school quite concerned about the school board's decision about no snow day on such a day. She left early enough to make it to school on time, but many of her friends were over an hour late to school. Some couldn't get to school because the bus couldn't operate. I've heard that the school board phone line and the website shut down due to too many inquiries. I hope the city sees the real problem here.
I still have some catching up at work. I hope it won't be too crazy next week.

バスを降りると警察が来て橋に向かう道路を閉鎖していました。バスの運転手がこの街のバスはスノータイヤを履いていないんだよとヘラヘラと言っているのが聞こえました。誰かがこの街には除雪車が2台しかないらしいと言っているのが聞こえました。
何なんだろう…妙ににイライラしました。市は雪に備えていると？毎年言っているようですが…
警察を出して道を封鎖し皆が向かいたい場所に行けないことが雪に備えている結果なのは悲しいです。最近の状況で誰にとっても仕事に行けないのは辛いはずです。

結局仕事には行けませんでした。バスに乗っている間に勤め先から連絡もありました。出かける前に連絡してくれると有り難いのですがボスは自分の敷地内の除雪に忙しかったようです。30センチほど積もったようです。
バスは当てにならないと思ったので歩いて家路に着くことにしました。９０分ほどかかりました。

驚いたことに90分という道のりが全く気になりませんでした。雪が降っていたのですが寒さは感じず、いつもの散歩の延長線のようでした。Move2Earnで歩き始めて一年になります。たぶん鍛えられたんですね。
次女ちゃんが学校から帰ってくるとかなりお怒りのようでした。なぜこんな日に休校にならなかったのか？本人はいつものように学校に着いたらしいのですが、友達の中には1時間以上遅刻してしまった子、バスが運行を中止したので学校に来れなかった子もいたようです。学校にはかなりの苦情が来ていたようです。
次の冬には解決されると良いですが。。。
私の仕事も少々遅れ気味です。来週はバタバタしませんように。
