We are the champs!

Yes this is a brag post.

It me bragging about our 4th grade rec soccer championship game that we won tonight.

Let me give you a little background. I have been involved with my kids sports for a long time. I try to make it fun for all the kids and let them learn skill that if they practice they can improve. I try to teach them what I think is the right way to play each sport. I am all about team and learning the fundamentals. For example in basketball i do not even let the kids shoot 3s. They are not strong enough and it makes for bad form.

We i have not had many good teams. I have not coached them all but i help every now and then and coach sometimes.

This season changed. For some reason we started playing really well as a team. We picked another good player and a few of our kids starting getting used to playing soccer.

We went undefeated and make it all the way to the championship.

I don’t thinks kid should win all the time. its good to lose some so you know how to fight back. You need to learn how to deal with defeat. I preach to be good sports when winning or losing.

But boy is it fun to win!! The kids loved it. Fun to see hard work pay off.

I know it’s just 4th grade rec soccer but still fun and fun to make memories with my boy.

That’s all tonight. Just fun and putting this in more as a journal entry than anything for myself.

But it's called: football.

True. I should correct that for this global audience. I didn’t even know that until I moved to Brazil for a bit.

It wasn't that serious; Should have included an emoji.
I just couldn't help myself. Soccer is such a silly word for it though. 😅

Hi, I suspected yours was just on a lighter mood.🙂

Then I read it was his brief move to Brazil that even opened his eyes. I've seen this trend in many from such countries over the years.

Whereas from my childhood in Nigeria, I knew the American football, baseball, cricket(from outside the US),bowling, fencing, so well. These are sports I never saw around me then, but satellite TV was available AND I was inquisitive enough.

I take it that it's cute to belong to the developed world, others keenly watch you, but you may not necessarily watch others.

Cheers and greetings @dkid14.

Pls @dkid14 I'm very, very new to posting via "inleo". What tag does one use in "inleo" to make his post appear here? I used "sportstalkscocial" the last time and it didn't appear here.
Thanks.

Hi, @dkid14 , good news.

I had to keep testing and trying whilst waiting for your reply. This time it became a challenge to even login(I use a phone). It finally logged me in as I only watched, shortly after rejecting my attempt through hivesigner.

Then ofcourse the challenge I asked your help on. As I looked through, I spotted where one can select a community downstairs and viola!

If you check now, you would see my blog-ppst of Xabi Alonso. Wow I wasn't even sure it was successful because right at about the time it told me it was successful, it also told me it wasn't successful as it can't find my posting key or something.

Thanks for your help. O yes, you helped me somehow. Afterall if you didn't do a blog here, I don't think I would notice you to ask you a question and asking you that question led me to try harder.

My VERY FIRST BLOG in any community via "inleo" is now live! 🕺

Congrats! When hard work is rewarded with winning it is a great feeling.

It sure is good experience to lose and get back on your feet, but I think far too many people go through life and never really win anything.

True. You also have to learn how to win!

Congratulations! You're right about losing. I often learn more from losing than winning. But it's still nice for the kids to get to experience winning and the rewards of hard work.

I once coached a grade 4 team and that is right around the age where the kids start to listen to actual strategy, see that it works, and then develop good skills because of good coaching. They do get really competitive from that point forward and this is a good thing. well done team!
