1 Pull Up Completed!

avatar

I have not been able to do a pull up for almost 10 years.

I wanted to change that. I had gone up and down in weight a lot during the last 10 years. As I set the goal to lose weight this time I wanted a way to make sure that I was also getting stronger along the journey. So the goal of doing up complete pull up was born.

I have now done that pull up and I am upping my goal to 10 now. I think it will take me around 8-12 months to get there. Maybe sooner if I keep working out as much as I am right now.

So how did I get there.

Well first of all I lost some weight. I just hit the 30 lb pound recently and am feeling so much better. Its so nice to see the scale going down and to be in the 230s again.

Next I started working on my weight lifting. I specifically focused 1 day a week on the pull up. I would do back, grip and bicep strength. I did a lot of pull up negatives and band pull ups to get my form right and get the muscles used to doing it.

I also found a lot of good youtube videos that got me pumped up. This one from Truett was crazy.

This dude is tough and a machine.

How many pull ups can you do?
