Lockout Continues

The photo above was taken by me last season while attending a game with family and friends. Not being as close to the ballpark as I was when I lived in the Bronx, it is still a fun-filled day or evening to visit Yankee Stadium. However, as all baseball fans know, the season finds itself in jeopardy due to the owners not being able to hash out a new agreement with the players. I am not going to get into the details because it is all over the news and internet, especially being that it is the only baseball news.
If you were to ask either side, they would put the blame on not having an agreement on the other side. This would only be normal. This wasn't affecting the Minor Leagues until the owners started balking at paying these future stars during spring training. It does affect those players in the minors who are on their perspective Major League team's 40 man roster. These lucky players also can't participate or communicate with their coaches.
I know this isn't the first time that I complained about the lockout, but the only losers are the fans. My favorite part about the offseason is participating in hot stove conversations. While there was a flurry of signings before the lockout became official, everything suddenly came to a complete stop. This coming Monday is deemed to be the day that if an agreement is not reached, opening day will be pushed back, causing some games to be lost. Spring Training has been obviously delayed.
I will never forget when baseball players decided to strike in the 90s, the World Wrestling Federation came out with a great advertisement. Randy Savage approached the plate with a bat with a slogan that said something like our stars don't strike. It was a great way of showing that WWE's superstars care about their fans. Only time will tell as to what happens, but from all appearances, nobody was in a rush to get anything done. Maybe we as fans can spend our money elsewhere, because they obviously don't care about us.
