Odd Mushrooms & Actifit October 11 2023
I've seen mushrooms growing on trees before, but never this kind that grows on a willow; it looks a bit weird. I know the popular name for it is "Chicken of the Forest." How odd, meat that grows on trees. :)) I'm a bit curious about what they taste like, but I think I'll pass this time and leave them for someone else to try.

I know this guy. Young pieces are edible and REALLY tasty! You can fry it breaded and it's similar to chicken (taste and structure).
It's called Laetiporus sulphureus or Chicken of the woods.
I know about Chicken of the woods, but Im used to see it on different types trees.
Uhhh, sorry man...my mistake, I just read your post more carefully.
This is very impressive speciman though!
That's a lot
I've never seen mushrooms on trees for real
That's nice!
Very odd, I’ve never seen anything like this before and we have lots of mushrooms growing in the forest. Maybe it is unique to your part of the world? Are you sure it is edible? 😳
Someone confirmed already that they are edible. :)) And that they can have a similar texture even taste like chicken. :D
Hmmm..... Sounds like they might be tasty, I'm just a bit leery of eating mushrooms from the forest Lol🙄
My neighbors picks mushrooms all the time, I guess what I need to do is go with someone that does this regularly, just to be safe!😀
Or just buy them in the store Lol😇
The store is a good safe option :)))
Absolutely my friend!!😇

We have that kind here, but I've not seen any this year except some old, old ones still hanging around from last year. The ones I've seen are not quite as compact growing as your monster is and looks a lot like a large cheese covered puff. Our neighbor eats them; I've never had one, but eating 'shrooms isn't my forte. Have you ever eaten one?
Take care!
I've eaten "chicken of the forest" type of shrooms before, but not the ones growing on this type of tree.
So......do they taste like chicken?
The one on the tree looks a little different than the ones I've seen. I would have to err on the side of caution, lol! It's rare for me to eat a store bought 'shroom!
No, I wouldn't say they tasted like chicken, but many people say they do...
Interesting......I'll have to ask one of the neighbors next time I see him, if he thinks it tastes like chicken to him.
What did it taste like, to you?
Tasted like mushrooms with a harder texture and a slight "wood" after-taste, not bad at all.
Lol, if you say so! Take care!
