DuceCrypto's Actifit Report Card: December 13, 2023
Wednesday, December 13, turned out to be an abnormal day at school. It started normally, with my short walk from two blocks away and my ascent up three flights of stairs. Class started well, and the guest teacher filling in for my homeroom co-teacher was well liked by the students.
But at 9:30 am, the school fire alarm went off. Although I had a free period, I was sitting in on the ELA class with the guest teacher, so I helped her follow the school protocol and escorted the students down the stairs and across the street. What we thought was just a drill turned out to be the real thing.
We were stuck outside for over 30 minutes while fire and police forces assessed the situation and handled the emergency. We were finally let back into the building, but we did not have access to our school on the fourth floor. Instead, we had to sit with our classes in the auditorium as plans were made to serve them lunch and handle an early dismissal.
Big credit to our wonderful office and operations staff who handled the emergency situation with calmness and pragmatism. The students got fed in an orderly manner and were released for early dismissal. Most students got picked up or had permission to walk home, but I hung back with a few of the students who couldn't be released right away. It gave me time to complete my IT training.
I got home a bit early and decided to do a bit of yoga to unwind after a stressful day. I followed up with some leftovers of the white bean and kale soup I made last week. Then I got to bed a bit early because it is going to be another long weekend. Thursday, I'm meeting my father for dinner on the last night of Hanukkah, and then I have EDM shows planned for Friday and Saturday.
Catch you tomorrow, actifit family. Cheers!

I hope you had good weather outside for your fire drill, and that this was truly just a drill.....
Sounds like an exciting day, and a very healthy 6K @actifit step day as well cheers!😄
It was not a drill and the weather was cold... around 40 F. It was a rough morning for sure!
Wow…… I hope everything was OK, and no one was injured!😳
You aren't taking your dad to listen to some EDM?
Nah, he's not for that beep boop music. Plus during his 30-day period of mourning, he is not permitted to go to events for amusement by Jewish law. Maybe in the new year he will reconsider.
I don't know much about Jewish traditions, other than what I have seen in movies etc.
Have I missed something?
There are a bunch of rules and traditions around mourning the loss of family members that include 7-day, 30-day, and 11-month restrictions. For example, I won't be shaving or cutting my hair for 30 days after my grandma's passing.
My condolences for your grandma.
I have heard that the grieving processes is very practical and helpful.
