DuceCrypto's Actifit Report Card: March 8, 2024

I'm back! Thanks to the hard-working team at actifit for their recent partnership with my favorite Web3 strategy TCG -- #Splinterlands! Lucky for me, it was just in time for my largest step count of 2024. I totaled over 30,000 steps, mostly from walking and dancing all over New York City.

My day started at midnight, of course, and I was at my my favorite Brooklyn club, Elsewhere, to see a 2-hour set from Mura Masa. He was excellent, and I even made some new friends out on the dancefloor! I also got to add to my collection of cool bathroom sticker pictures, adding the Fresh Coast Football Club. ⚽️

Since it was a club show on a school night, the headliner played from 12 to 2am, and then I walked home. I had an uneventful Friday at school and submitted my students' final grades for their 2nd marking period. 1/3 of the school year left to make an impact for these scholarships!

I got out of school early and walked to the local hospital to consult with a urologist about getting my vasectomy. Turns out New York has a law that mandates a man must wait at minimum 1 month from the date of their initial consultation to have the operation performed. Looks like the date has been set for May 1. I'm actually pretty excited about this, although many people struggle to wrap their heads around my choice.

I found this on-topic sticker on our walk to The Moxy Hotel in Manhattan for the Barclay Crenshaw album premier and pop-up meet and greet with the artist himself. I wrote an extensive album review over at my EDM website -- moonlvnding.com

For those unfamiliar, Barclay Crenshaw is the new experimental bass music project from the house music legend Claude VonStroke, the mastermind and former leader of Dirtybird Records. My partner and I chatted him up and got some cool content for our Moon Lvnding social media account. We met up with some friends at the pop-op and then walked aimlessly around the East Village desperately trying to find a decent place to eat without a reservation. We failed miserably.

The elevator at The Moxy had this cool design in it. We couldn't even ride the elevator since we weren't staying at the hotel, but it was still cool enough for a feature picture. We must have traversed St. Marks Place at least twice before setting on an awfully overpriced dumpling shop. At least punk rock isn't dead!

Punk rock would be pissed AF if they knew how much we just paid for 1 burger and 5 poorly executed beef dumplings served to us through a network of locker cubbies opened by scanning a QR code. It was the least punk thing, sadly ironic.

At little more classic Saint Marks Place artwork on the way out. The mosaic tile work caught my eye, so I snapped off a pic on our walk back to the New York City landmark music venue, Webster Hall. More often than not, Webster Hall hosts the bass music acts that are too small for the larger venues out here in Brooklyn. And it is a cool 1800s venue that carried a bit of cache for the artists as well.

Doors opened at 11pm and I spent the last hour of the night getting loose on the dance floor, warming up for Super Future, Tiedykye, and Barclay Crenshaw, who all played after midnight. I'll be back tomorrow to get caught up on Janurary and February with a monthly summary and photo dump. But that's a wrap for International Women's Day and the 30K steps I charted.

Feels good to be back and reconnect with the actifit community. See you again soon!
