Winter Blizzard -- Actifit Report Card: January 25, 2026

Well the winter blizzard of 2026 arrived Sunday morning and didn't hold back. It snowed all day. As predicted, we got a little less than a foot of snow. I was up early to get some work done (setting up my new #Splinterlands grain plots) before the Chelsea away match at Crystal Palace.

All the seller from The Blues' London rivals caught to them as Chelsea trounced all over them. They gave up a sloppy goal late on to win 3-1 but they really wasted a great opportunity for an away clean sheet after our keeper Sanchez made a few big saves on their only 2 chances of the game.

I was hoping it was a good omen for the big Conference Championship (US football semifinals) between my favorite Denver Broncos at home hosting the New England Patriots. Ohhhh us New Yorks got no love for those Boston teams so I doubly wanted Denver to win.

My sister was in town from Denver for a ski weekend we have planned, so we planned to meet up in Manhattan to watch the game at the NYC Broncos pub. The crowd was light due to the weather, but it was fun company along with my sister.

Broncos made enough plays to put themselves in a spot to win, but they did not make the clutch plays when needed to come out on top. They lost 10-7 in a defensive battle with a backup quarterback in a 2nd half that quickly became winter blizzard conditions. Luck was not on the Broncos' side.

A foolishly aggressive 4th and 1 call to go for it with a rookie QB with a play that did not come close to working instead of an easy 3 points to make it a 2 possession game. No brainer. 2 missed field goals, although neither was a gimme, you NEED one of them there to at least tie. Let's not even get started with the QB panicking under pressure and throwing the ball backwards because he didn't consider centrifugal force :-/

That turnover on the 8 yard line was just as bad as my step totals this weekend. Amazingly, it was the stormiest day when I broke 10K. It was fun trudging through the fresh powder and taking in a mostly quiet, snow-covered city. Until next time...
