After the Caracas Rock race last October, I stopped training. Between trying to manage my time and making excuses not to train, I just stopped. But this week, after talking with my husband, we agreed to take turns so that each of us could run during the week without getting in the other’s way. I ran on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday—3 kilometers each day. I’m keeping it to this distance while I get back into shape. Monday and Tuesday were really challenging because I ran in Lomas del Ávila, and the hills there are no joke. They remind me of when we used to train on hills with the team—and boy, do they take it out of me, haha. I run out of steam super fast. In fact, on Tuesday, when my mom watched the baby, my husband and I went out together, and he let me take the little one. Honestly, I was practically walking fast rather than running because I felt so exhausted! Yesterday, Saturday, we went to the East Park, just like today. Alberto runs first while I stay with Matías in the park playing, and then it’s my turn while he stays. These last two days I ran at a better pace (6’34” – 6’41” average, respectively). Starting next week, I hope to run 5K at least twice a week and keep improving my pace more and more. I needed to start moving again, and now that I won’t be able to swim for a loooong time ☹—which really hurts—we’ll run, and we’ll do it right!
