Actifit report for Tuesday

Yesterday I wrote a post in the dentist's waiting room. She called me in exactly when I was finished. I was getting two crowns installed for my implants. But one of them was too big, so they sent it back to the lab.

Since I was close to Overvecht, the neighborhood in Utrecht where I used to live, I went shopping for groceries and some other stuff there. Winkelcentrum Overvecht became a Shopping Center when I lived there, and now it's a Shopping Mall. I'm sure they'd love to call it simply a Mall, as if that sounds cool, but older people won't understand what it means.

Some things had stayed the same, some things had changed drastically. New apartments have been built instead of the distribution center that stood empty for years, where squatters held raves. I guess these apartments are more upmarket than the 10-floor commie blocks (khrushchovka's) that Overvecht is known for. There's a craft beer cafe on the other side of the tall building in the back.

On the other hand, there are now two of the cheapest supermarkets next to each other near the main entrance: Lidl and Dirk. I chose Dirk, where I hadn't been in years. In the non-food discount bin, there were shoes and slippers lined with fake fur for sale. Since I had a lack of waterproof shoes and little money to spend, I took a gamble and bought a pair of winter sneakers for €20, although I couldn't find any indication of the size.

Back at home, it turned out that they were actually in my size, and they fit well. Unlike the slippers which I also bought, and which did have a clear label for the size. They'll go to the second-hand store - returning is not an option, and I don't like to do that anyway. I'd rather help other poor people keep their feet warm in the coming winter.

Yesterday was also the day of the King's Speech, a litany of problems with unsatisfying solutions and hardly any positive ambitions.
