How A Self-Help Guru Might Have Destroyed One Fighter's Legacy, or Saved it // UFC FIGHT NIGHT PREVIEW : WATERSON vs RODRIGUEZ

Aahh... The internet... This beautiful place where people are made, brought to fame, and as quickly taken down with one wrong move.

Diego Sanchez.

April 9, 2005, the Ultimate Fighter season 1 finale, Diego is facing Kenny Florian, and defeats him via TKO in round 1 and becomes the winner of the first real TV about MMA.

Against all odds, Diego becomes an instant public favourite, most probably because he takes on the role of underdog in every fights, and bring it without any consideration for his own health.
In his next fights, he will beat Brian Gassaway, Nick Diaz, John Alessio, Karo Parisyan, Joe Riggs before getting his first loss against the wrestler Josh Koscheck and has a record of 17-1.

Diego was on the top of the world, and on his way to make history, or die while trying. There is something fascinating, and borderline morbid when a fighter abandon himself in his craft, to a point of not caring about his own safety anymore. The Nightmare was never shy to take a beating, and it will take 13 more years of violence, for him to realise that he sacrificed his life for people's entertainment.

Lately, the world of MMA has only the one story of their lips, the UFC has released Diego Sanchez, with not much of a thank you note, and cancel his bout with Cowboy Cerrone that was planned for this weekend.

The real reason of this sudden departure, his due to one man: Joshua Fabia.

For those following MMA news, it wasn't much of a surprise, as the backlash have already reaching a culminating point for the last year or so, his coach Joshua Fabia has been stirring up some shit for a long time, and been portrayed in the media as a charlatan, a Mac Dojo con artist.

Maybe a video will help you realise who is Joshua Fabia, the man that has been coaching Diego Sanchez in recent years, helping him with his career, and his life.

As you can see, Joshua Fabia utilizes very questionable teaching methods, in this video you can see him chasing fighters holding a knife in his hand. You can totally imagine that the entire MMA community struck MEME gold with Joshua, and videos about the fake Guru starting sprouting all around the internet:

Of course, very quickly, the fans started to wonder if maybe Diego and Joshua were actually more than just friends, and that maybe Diego has been gaslighted by the master manipulator guru, and that perhaps it was the real reason for this strange partnership, even if Diego denied it on numerous occasions.
The entire community found this new enemy in Joshua, and every new interview given by the guru became instant classic of absurdity, and of course became a small viral sensation in within the fighting sphere.

So as aforementioned, it wasn't a surprise to see that once again, Diego and his coach made the headlines, and once again, the internet is taking it too far, going after the ex UFC fighter for making the wrong decisions in his life.
I don't know where the truth lies, and that is why I am writing this article, only Diego Sanchez knows what really happened with the UFC, but there is something a little bit shady at play, and will probably never know the full version.

One thing for sure, Joshua isn't scared of fighters, which is quite unsettling, as he doesn't realize that he is overstepping boundaries, and seems to be always make waves and looking for conflict, and making it about him, and not the fighter that is supposed to represent.

It's not hard to understand why the UFC said that they had enough, the staff, matchmaker and dana hate drama; and Joshua is plenty of it.

In all honesty, I don't know what is going on with Diego, could it be the years of constant damage to the brain that has slowly made him lose grasp with reality, or maybe he just needed a friend and Joshua was there to fill the gap (pun intended), but all I know is that it's the end of a 19 years career, 43 fights, and Diego will never be inducted to the hall of fame now.

What I do know, is that now The Nightmare is fearing for his life after the UFC backlash, and when someone that fights for a living, is scared, that tell you something.

The man lost his life, his wife, his job, his friends and gym, but seems to care about one thing right now, and it's to save his reputation, and maybe his life.

What if we were all wrong, and the UFC might really have threatened him and his coach, might have manipulated the truth, and something far more sinister might be at play, this is the fighting world after all, corruption and sins are embedded in its history and lore. In this case, it would mean that Joshua Fabia might have saved Diego's life, in a twist of fate.

To be continued...

UPDATE:

A recent footage shed light on more training techniques used by his coach, and I can definitely say that it's borderline snuff movie, and therefore cannot vouch for someone giving free CTE to his fighter. That's just plain disgusting, and I have no idea what they were thinking when filming this.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT PREVIEW

Regarding the UFC event this weekend, the Main has been postponed due to a cut during training for TJ Dillashaw, so the organization decided to push the woman Fly Weight as main event, and I am almost falling asleep while writing this, that's how excited I am, so let's dive into the most uninteresting event of the year.

Women Fly Weight - Main event

Marina Rodriguez (13-1-2) vs Michelle Waterson (18-8-0)

source

As much as I am not really interested in Michelle Waterson's fights, Marina Rodriguez has been really impressive his her last fight against the favourite Amanda Ribas, it's worth mentioning that she won by TKO (elbows and punches) and has a the Vegas Odds with her.

Michelle Waterson won her last fight by split decision, and I don't know if she has what it takes to beat Rodriguez.

Welterweight - Co-main

Donald Cerrone (36-15-0) vs Alex Morono (18-7 -0,1NC)

source

This a replacement fight, that was put in place last minute, Cowboy was so ready to fight Diego, but unfortunately the fight was scrapped without further explanation.

Now we will try to enjoy as we can, Cerrone (when he isn't throwing a fight) can deliver some entertaining moments, and his opponent is more known for his loss to Khaos Williams than any of his wins.

image.png

Cowboy Cerrone is the Vegas Odds favourite with -140 and +120 for Morono. If Cowboy is in a good mood, he should have this one in 2 rounds. If not, it's gonna be a long night at the office.

Welterweight

Neil Magny (24-9-0) vs Geoff Neal (13-3-0)

source

If I was in charge of the UFC, I would have put this one as the main event, but Neil and Neal don't have the star power to attract the eyes, but I know they will deliver a good fight.
Going through Neal Magny's current record, I just realized how many decisions he won in his recent fights.
Geoff Neil on the other side, has had some very exciting finishes against Mike Perry, Niko Price, and Frank Camacho.

Geoff Neil will win by TKO!!

Great flow to this post and packed with loads of info 👌

could it be the years of constant damage to the brain that has slowly made him lose grasp with reality

Very possible... I'd worry for boxers, MMA fighters, rugby players in this regard. You can only shake the brain around violently in it's cage so many times before causing irreparable damage in my opinion.

HEy brotha!

Thanks, yeah, NFL players, the same. In few years we will have make huge progresses in cell regeneration, and it will probably less of an issue. I especially worry about boxers for that matter, as the traumas are way bigger.

Always good to see you around friend!

Ya the boxers really get the worst of it, with repeated blows to the head for 15 rounds.... Although spare a thought for the boxers back in the day when rounds could go for 30 or more rounds 😬
