En el caso de Cuba integra el grupo A, donde se halla su archienemigo, Holanda, país donde el fútbol es pasión, pero el béisbol se ha convertido un los últimos años en un deporte capaz de enfrentar de tú a tú a muchas selecciones nacionales donde el béisbol es pasión.

La tarde de este Miércoles en Cuba fue una completa expectativa, llegaría el día de saber la nómina oficial de los 30 peloteros que portarán la camiseta de las cuatro letras. En un programa televisivo en vivo por el canal de los deportes en la Isla, esta vez fue dado de una manera diferente, movida por una amena programación musical y cultural dónde los atletas eran la principal atracción. Dos receptores, ocho jugadores de cuadro, seis jardineros y 14 lanzadores integran el róster de 30 peloteros que debutará ante Países Bajos el 8 de marzo.

Cómo podemos apreciar, de los seleccionados 21 debutan por Cuba en los Clásicos Mundiales. Entre tanto, Alfredo Despaigne es el pelotero de mayor número de participaciones con cuatro, al menos tuvo la suerte que no pudo acompañar a Frederich Cepeda. Las autoridades del deporte informaron que el grupo de reserva hará también el viaje a Japón para los partidos preparatorios.
Como fue informado por la FCB, gran parte del equipo se mantendrá entrenando en el Estadio Latinoamericano de la capital, hasta el 5 de febrero fecha en qué partirán hacia Japón para continuar el alistamiento. Hasta que el 3 de marzo se les unan los atletas que militan en la Major League Baseball, según lo establecido por los organizadores cumpliendo la licencia otorgada por El Gobierno de Estados Unidos.

Creo que el papel de Cuba en su grupo, va a estar determinado por, entre otras cosas: la condición física en que lleguen los MLB más los otros convocados. Que se establezca el necesario acople, la química, que se juegue como el del primer clásico, poniéndole "bomba", creyéndose que se puede. El primer juego vs. Holanda, a mí entender, es casi decisivo, por lo que ha significado los últimos juegos frente a este equipo, si se arranca ganando ese partido hay opciones.
