La UEFA Europa League nos dejará reservados para este jueves una serie de buenos y jugosos partidos correspondientes a la Ronda de 32 mejores. Sin lugar a dudas, el partido más esperado es el que tendrá como escenario al mítico estadio de Old Trafford, donde el Manchester United recibirá al FC Barcelona, por el partido de vuelta en esta instancia.

Muchos asombrados, me incluyo en esa lista, en alguna ocasión vieron enfrentamientos entre estos dos clubes que han ganado la UEFA Champions League en más de una ocasión. La historia de los duetos entre estos equipos en este siglo data primero en el año 2009, esa temporada, el United de Sir Alex Ferguson tenía una nómina que literalmente volaba sobre el terreno de juego, y con un Cristiano Ronaldo, quien ya había ganado la Champions en el 2007 siendo figura y haber ganado su primer Balón de Oro en ese año.

Por el lado blaugrana, los dirigidos en ese momento por un Pep Guardiola que empezaba su carrera como director, vio como su plantilla rendía frutos, y luego de conseguir los títulos locales (Liga y Copa), llegaban a la final de Wembley, con Messi y Etoo anotando los goles del triunfo blaugrana. La historia se repetiría dos años después, pero en Roma, en esta ocasión los culés triunfaron con un contundente 3-1 con goles a la cuenta de Pedro, Messi y Villa por el blaugrana, y Rooney por los Red Devils.

En años recientes volvieron a chocar por 4tos de Champions, 1-0 y 3-0 serían los resultados de ambos encuentros favorables a los culés, con Leo Messi de figura. Para el partido de vuelta, el cuadro culé no podrá contar con los servicios de Ousmane Dembele por lesión, presumiblemente el francés no regrese hasta mediados del próximo mes de marzo, Pedri estará igualmente de baja por problemas en el muslo, también debería volver para marzo, y Gavi que no estará por acumulación de amarillas. Por su parte, el Manchester United tendrá de bajas a Christian Eriksen por su lesión de tobillo, Harry Maguire, lesionado de la rodilla, igual que Donny Van de Beek y el caso de Antony que es duda para este crucial encuentro.

Manchester United: Formación 4-4-2, De Gea (portero), Wan Bissaka, Varane, Lisandro Martinez y Luke Shaw (defensas), Fred, Casemiro, Sancho y Bruno Fernandes (mediocampistas) Rashford y Weghorst (delanteros). Mi predicción para este partido será victoria azulgrana 0-2 y no me arriesgo a decir los goleadores.

Manchester United a 8vos de final pasando por encima del Barcelona. Estuvimos en presencia de una las eliminatorias más apretadas de los últimos 10 años entre estos dos colosos del fútbol europeo, los culés de Xavi visitaban Old Trafford para enfrentarse al United de Ten Hag.
