Comienza el V Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, se acaba por fin la espera, comienza la pasión por la pelota. A Cuba le toca abrir ante un Pises Bajos, el cual ha sido su archienemigo en este tipo de torneo. De ganar este primer juego, el equipo cubano no solo se pondría a ventaja de comenzar adelante, sino que se quitaría una espinita atravesada siempre que se enfrenta a Holanda en los anteriores Clásicos disputados.

The V World Baseball Classic begins, the wait is finally over, the passion for baseball begins. Los de la Mayor de las Antillas presentan cambios muy sentidos en la alineación prevista, son el caso de Andy Ibáñez, quien presentó lesión en el cuarto dedo de la mano izquierda, lo que le limitará jugar los dos primeros juegos. Para volver más dramáticas las cosas para los cubanos, de último momento Alfredo Despaigne tuvo que ser relevado de la alineación titular también por lesión.

El equipo cubano, con una pobre ofensiva, permite que Países Bajos se lleve a su colección el primer juego 4x2, en el comienzo del V Clásico Mundial de Beisbol.

En el primer turno al bate por los cubanos, tres quedaron en circulación desaprovechando comenzar arriba en el marcador,luego de que Lorenzo Quintana bateara para Doble Play salvador favorece al equipo Holandés.

En la segunda entrada Yadiel Mujica conecta imparable por el LF, convirtiendose en el remolcador que pondría Cuba adelante en el marcador.

Aunque los nuestros salieron delante en el marcador y sus lanzadores propinaron 13 ponches, seis a la cuenta del sólido abridor Yariel Rodríguez. Los Antillano s cayeron por cuarta ocasión consecutiva ante los Holandeses en estos eventos.

A partir de ese momento el ataque caribeño fue limitado a otros dos incogibles, ambos dobletes, uno de ellos tributado en el séptimo inning por el propio Guibert, otra vez remolcado por Mujica, en esta ocasión con un roletazo.

Le siguieron Onelkis García, quien abandonó en el sexto con dos hombres en circulación para dar paso a Carlos Juan Viera, ante el cual los neerlandeses aprovecharon y se fueron delante 4x1, aparentemente favorecidos por el árbitro, que decretó faul un tercer strike que hubiera calmado la situación para los cubanos.

Sin más, los Holandeses tuvieron mejor suerte, consebido en batazos de muy poca fuerza que están expuestos entre sus siete jits, pero en el beisbol es imprescindible batear y eso fue lo que no hicieron los dirigidos por Armando Johnson. Por los ganadores P. Bajos: 4 carreras, 7 hits, 0 errores, el juego lo gana Eric Méndez. Por los perdedores Cuba: 2 carreras, 3 hits, 0 errores, el juego lo pierde Onelki García.

Así lo reconoció el mánager cubano en conferencia de prensa, en la que respondió a los tres ponches de su tercer bate Luis Robert (después dio el otro doble) y consideró además la posible entrada del receptor Ariel Martínez por Quintana, quien además de irse en blanco le fue imposible impedir dos bases robadas.

El técnico negó rotundamente que el desenlace del duelo tomara la categoría de alarma, se muestra confiado en la capacidad de ajuste de Robert y otros llamados a liderar la ofensiva. Asegura que el equipo está en condiciones de reponerse con muy buena preparación. Para el próximo duelo, Johnson, confirmó al zurdo Roenis Elías para abrir este jueves contra Italia.

Lamentablemente, aun siendo en esta ocasión un equipo diferente, con figuras MLB las que no se contaban en versiones anteriores de la competencia, pues una vez más no se pudo ganar el juego de pelota. Sigue siendo el bateo el aspecto que más pesa en la nómina Cubana, a partir de estos comienzan activarse las alarmas.
