My Actifit Report Card: June 7 2021
Hey guys and thanks for stopping by today!
We got up to rain this morning. It’s been one of those ever changing type days where it looks like it’s going to pour one minute and then you have blazing sun the next! We are truly in June-uary!!
I had some stuff to do online first and then I could begin an indoor garden project. I love orchids but until 2-3 years ago, they would always die. I have one at work which is flourishing rather nicely. One thing different from there to here is a forced air furnace. Here at home, we heat with wood. We just don’t use our furnace. Consequently, I believe that the lack of air movement has a lot to do with it, plus the temperatures extremes may play a role as well. So that got me thinking about a small greenhouse. I looked around online and found this one.
It was easy to assemble too!
I had ordered an orchid through Amazon. This particular company sends you the one you ordered and encloses a second one of their choosing as a gift! 2 for the price of 1!
They came very nicely packaged in this pretty box.
To go along with the greenhouse, I also purchased a USB fan and LED grow light. The fan to help with airflow since we don’t use forced air anything here.
I repotted the orchids and placed them in their new home.
I’m hoping all goes well. My ultimate plan is if they do well, is to hunt for a vanilla bean orchid. I make my own vanilla so why not use my own beans to do it, if it works?
In the afternoon, we headed out for a hike. Jan went with us.

I love orchids! I can get then to rebloom if I pay a lot of attention to them! Haha
The only problem I have now is our 2 cats! My old cat would never jump up on my sunny kitchen table and that's where I had about 4 orchids at one time. Well, fast forward to now - I have to keep my orchid in a room or outside! Anyway I only have one orchid now that I just got to rebloom and have it out on the back patio.
Nice! I got the indoor greenhouse because one of my boys (Cot specifically) would just love to play with the new orchids! I have to hang all my other plants. We have a 10' tall Bird of Paradise and when he was a kitten, we caught him jumping through the air playing with all the green dangling kitty toys attached to it (leaves). We guy wired it so they didn't droop quite so much. He rarely bothers it now, but something new like the orchids, I can just imagine.

I fed my orchid the special orchid food you mix into water so it would bloom. Also it had lots of bright light from a window!
