My Actifit Report Card: November 20 2021
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by today!
Aahhhhhh……the end of the day found us at Grant’s hamburgers, where we purchased some of the best burgers to go. We sat in the car to eat, and the first pic is the view out the windshield. Now, to backup to the start of the day……
We got up after I’d had only 3 hours and 58 minutes of sleep to do some crypto stuff. I was able to go back to bed and grab another hour or so before I got up for the day. I needed to go by the library to pick up a book that was waiting for me and also go to the clinic to move fans around.
In my other posts lately, you’ve heard me talk about the newly set up dump sight for the flood victims, where they can dump their torn apart home and belongings. This was off to the east side of that area; all appliances. I was dumbstruck!
This was taken from the west side.
So many folks turned out to help others. Donations of fans, blankets and other necessities were handed out on one corner. A little bit further a ways from that was a portable restaurant giving out free meals.
Everything is such a mess. It seems like, looking at it, that it’s almost an impossible task that lay ahead. So much loss; so much devastation. It’s a bit surreal.
Once our tasks at hand were done, we needed to go to Bellingham to purchase a bit of shiny for our silvergoldstackers secret Santa. Which way to go to get there? The bridge at Everson is closed to one lane of traffic at a time due to some potential structural damage that occurred during the flood. We have haunting memories of another such situation years ago back in Ohio that ended in unbelievable tragedy. Needless to say, going over this was not my first choice. So, we headed towards another route that also went over the Nooksack river further south. The sign said the road was closed to trucks as this route is a major trucking route. There was rumored a road partial washout. What the sign didn’t say was that it was closed to ALL traffic!! Well we took a long, long ride around the country block, so to speak, that landed us right back in Everson facing that one lane bridge. I held my breath until we got to the other side. Whew!
Once we picked up the shiny we went to purchase, we decided to head to Lynden, to Grant’s hamburgers. Once dinner was finished we headed to purchase some ‘stocking stuffers’ for our secret Santas, and then took another route home. Suffice it to say that the bridge at Lynden going over the Nooksack river there, had no flaggers and was completely open. Makes you wonder about that Everson bridge………..😳
This is a link to a YouTube video from Scholten’s Equipment which was shot while rescuing folks in Sumas during the worst of the flood. It’s definitely worth watching.
Thank God for people who answer the call to help! Where would we be without them?
Thanks for reading this somewhat lengthy post. Take care everybody and have a blessed evening. 👣🐑☕️🛶🙃🤗🙏😴

!PIZZA what a busy day :-) Unreal all the damage that was caused by the floods :-( I hope the community can recover quickly from this.
Thank you for the pizza! Unfortunately, with 75% of the homes and businesses sustaining damage in Sumas alone, I don't think it will be a quick recovery. There is strength and endurance though, and eventually, the communities will recover. Thanks for stopping by. Take care!

Yeah you are welcome always
Thank you for attaching the video Elizabeth and my that's lots of destruction by the flood waters. My heart goes out to the residents , but I was glad to see the tractor man rescue some stranded people. Though their lives will never be the same, I hope the community support continues and they recover ASAP.
Wishing you a great Sunday and amazing new week ahead :}
Thank you @practicaleric! We attended church in the same church that flooded this time. The communities of Sumas, Nooksack and Everson have really pulled together to help one another. That's what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ!
Take care and have a blessed week ahead!
