My Actifit Report Card: June 15 2022
Hey everybody and thanks π for stopping by! πππ
Today was my Monday and boy was it! Around 9:10 this morning, a very nasty man called complaining about a bill he received for an eye π exam done recently. He had Medicare which I billed for. The short version is that they applied it to his deductible. He had no supplemental insurance, so the bill fell to patient responsibility. I sent a statement along with a note that if it was paid by a specific date, he would get over a 50% discount! Great-right? Not in his opinion! After much anger on his part, yelling and cursing at me while I remained calm and did not responded in kind, he finally told me he was coming to the clinic today and he was going to raise hell. After still trying to reason with him, I finally gave up and wished him a good day that of which he responded the same back except with tons of menace in his tone. He hung up on me.
Folks, the long and short of it is this: insurance is a benefit and not a right. Insurance verifications and claim submissions are not a guarantee of benefits nor payments of claims. They are all subject to the plan provisions at the time a verification is made or claim submitted. Most insurance have deductibles, copays or coinsurance. With Medicare, if you donβt have supplemental insurance to cover those out of pockets, it falls to the patient to pay them. In this case he had no supplemental insurance. Before anyone calls to take off the insurance billerβs head, be sure you know your plan provisions! Most folks donβt react this way, and itβs obvious to me that there are probably other issues at hand here. All I can say is I felt threatened and was pretty upset over the encounter. π
The balance of my day was busy with folks coming in to purchase or pick up. The doc is in Mexico on vacation until next week.
Of course just as I was getting off work, it began raining βοΈ. More eye π candy πβ¦..
Tomorrow is another me, myself and I day. I might have a first timer later in the afternoon if the gal can make it. Unless my βfriendβ from this morning calls again as heβs threatened to do, Iβm hoping for a quiet but productive day.
Take care everybody and enjoy your evening. Please continue to pray for Ukraine πΊπ¦

Sorry to hear about that rude man! He just needs to contact Medicare and not be rude or threatening to you! I don't know why people don't pay attention to the fact that even Medicare has deductibles! Sigh! My husband is about to turn 65 in August and we know all about what we will still be responsible for with Medicare. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
Thank you @violetmed! I would never dream of treating someone like that! At least he never showed up. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Take care!
O no! Wow, yes that sounded nasty. Must be out of monies or planned it for something else and then this bill comes ruining it all for him?
Or Prolly as you said, Just Entitled.
I hope all goes well, damn!

Oh I'm sorry with what you have to go through.
When people get upset like that, they are more upset with their situation than anything.
How are things today, sis?
I hope all is well!
Things are good; he never called back or came in as he threatened to do. We'll see what happens next week or the next time I send him a statement. Thanks sis!π€πππΈ
Oh,oh... another statement! Hehehe... it might spark his anger again!
Poor guy!
I am expecting it to, but you can't shirk financial responsibilities. I understand he may not like it, but it's a part of life, and Medicare is what it is. There are lots of other plans he could have chosen at open enrollment that would have not created this scenario unless he wasn't able to qualify for those. Nonetheless, it does not excuse seriously bad behavior on his part. No one should threaten another person! Okay......I will get off of my soapbox now, lol! Take care sis!π€πππΈπ€
