Fall Decorations!.......My Actifit Report Card: October 2 2023
Fall decorating! ๐๐๐ฏ๏ธ
Last week, Iโd purchased some fall decorations but didnโt get the opportunity until last night to get it done. Every Christmas, I load the mantle with Christmas themed decorations and it occurred to me, why not do fall as well? Hereโs the mantle split into individual pictures.
I like the way it turned out and I did it all for under $20! Nice ๐๐๐๐ฏ๏ธ
We got up this morning and hurriedly got into the hot tub. Rain was forecast and it looked threateningly imminent! It did hold off, so we did get to enjoy a soak. Afterwards, I made myself an espresso and set about to read for about a half an hour. Then on to 30 minutes of VR workout. When I was finished, @silvertop was done with his firewood for the day. We had planned to go to Cash-N-Carry and Costco. When the shopping was done, we treated ourselves to a coffee date at the Starbucks we frequent when we purchase a coffee. Then we headed home in the downpour!
Hereโs some eye candy from Saturdayโs hike. This first picture is of the smaller leather like fungi I showed yesterday.

Itโs getting dark now as I write this and this time next month, itโll be super dark by this time. We will โfall backโ which provides a lovely additional hour of sleep, but also puts the darkness much earlier in the day,especially as we approach the winter solstice. I just wish theyโd leave it on standard time or daylight savings time-one or the other and stop this maddening cycle!

Is that a real stone wall or just slim stones glued to another wall? Really nice decorations, lovely jobly! :))
Thank you @drlobes! They are real stones, weighing quite a bit and anchored to the wall behind it just like a brick wall with tie straps. Each stone was beveled with a diamond blade saw so the fit would be tight and mortared. The mantle is of solid Douglas Fir 4x8, and polyurethaned with no stain. It was a labor of love and something I never tire of looking at. @silvertop is very talented! He did the whole thing; I designed the tri-level hearth and he made it happen. ( you can't see it in the photo). ๐๐
That's even more impressive knowing that you did it yourselves!
Mike is quite the carpenter, brick/stone layer, plumber, electrician, jack of all trades sort of guy. We've done home improvement for years, and even many years ago, a realtor hired us as a team to go into her listings and do repairs for the homes she had contracted to put on the market. I look at drywall mud as putting icing on a very large cake. It's the same process, lol!
It saves quite a bit in the long run. If he or me or we can do it ourselves, we will! Take care my friend!

LOL! yes, but only in the sense that I've always done a Christmas mantle and never a fall one before. However, if you go to some of the local stores here, Christmas is in full swing. I, however, am going to enjoy fall first!

Hey @graciousvic! Nope; just fall and Thanksgiving. I'll start decorating for Christmas either Thanksgiving Day or a day or two later depending on what we are doing for the holiday. Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November. This year, it is early so I might wait until the following weekend.
