Happy 4th Of July! 🇺🇸………🎆….My Actifit Report Card: July 4 2025

Happy 4th of July everyone!

No work today in celebration of the country’s 249th birthday! I was happy to try to sleep in-I say try to, as somehow I didn’t turn off all 6 of my work alarms that began going off at 5:45 AM! At first, I couldn’t figure out why they were going off and in my groggy state, I was trying to determine what day of the week it was, lol! I finally figured it out, but unfortunately, all of the alarms still went off. 🙄

I did go back to sleep eventually and woke up around 7:30. We had plans to get in the hot tub, so after showering, that’s what we did.

Then @silvertop went out to split firewood while commenced doing some housework. Once we both had accomplished what we set out to do, we headed to Lynden to see what we could find. We ended up at Lynden City Park again.

It was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and a light breeze. A perfect day really! I found some interesting plant and insect life.

We were headed out towards the paved trail when we noticed something up on a dead tree branch high up.

Is that a squirrel?! What’s he doing way up there?! Upon zooming in just a bit, we saw it was indeed, a squirrel!

He appeared to not be moving. So we stood there and I zoomed a little closer.

He was so still, I kind of wondered if he was dead. As we were standing there staring upward, another couple came by and asked what we were looking at. They joined us in watching the squirrel. That’s when I noticed that he moved. Apparently he was sleeping! I can’t quite figure out how he didn’t fall. His tail may have been wrapped around his perch, but one thing for sure, short of a bird of prey, nothing was going to disturb him. We checked on the return leg and he was no longer there.

We continued on and crossed the street to the sports plex. Taking a path, we stumbled onto another entrance from a nearby neighborhood. As we walked I found a door leading to?

I believe it goes to someone’s yard who lives on the other side of the hedge. I spied something further down…..

We were heading back when this cute little fella came strolling towards us, out for a walk in the park!

Kitty was so friendly, meowing and rubbing against our legs.

He even flopped over and offered up his belly for a rub!

I really wanted to take him home but of course, did not. I guess we are ‘kitty magnets’ as we always seem to find the strays. I just hope kitty got home safely! 😻😸

After the park, it was coffee time and then a brief run through the grocery store and then home.

We will spend the evening quietly at home. The local fireworks will start around 9:30-10:00 PM tonight, but they’re far enough away that going to them is a bit of a hassle for those who live out in the county.

It’s funny-today has seemed so much like Saturday to me, that I told @silvertop he’s going to have to stop me from going to church tomorrow as I’ll be the only one there, lol! I guess I get two Saturdays this week! 🙃
