Happy Friday! 😁……….My Actifit Report Card: August 1 2025
Happy Friday everyone! 😎👍😁
Work was busy today, but despite that, I got everything done from the day’s business as well as a couple of things for Wednesday! I seem to be a bit stressed due to a couple things at work, but just in general for no apparent reason. Not entirely sure what that’s about. 🙃
However, today I bring you a tale-actually a sort of tail! We’ve hiked the forests here in the Northwest for a number of years, and it intrigues me of the variety of vegetation we have. Specifically, I’m totally taken with mushrooms or ‘shrooms as I like to call them. Turkey Tail ‘shrooms grow extremely prolifically here and it’s a sure bet you will find some.
Besides seeing it in the forest, I was really introduced to it through a 2019 documentary called Fantastic Fungi. One of the experts interviewed in this, talked about his mom who was in her 80’s I believe, with stage 4 breast cancer. The doctors told them that there was no hope. He didn’t give up, and I don’t remember if he said how much he gave his mother, but the ‘shroom was Turkey Tail. In the end, she was cancer free. I recommend watching it-fungi really is pretty amazing! It’s available on YouTube.
Which brings me to today’s photos. Turkey Tail is very distinctive in its rings and colors.
I asked GROK for a synopsis of it. This is what it had to say:
Turkey Tail mushrooms (Trametes versicolor), also known as Yun Zhi in traditional Chinese medicine, are a type of polypore fungus commonly found on decaying hardwood trees worldwide. They are easily recognizable by their colorful, fan-shaped caps, which feature concentric zones of brown, tan, blue, green, and gray hues, resembling a turkey’s tail.
These mushrooms are widely studied for their potential medicinal properties. They contain polysaccharopeptides like PSP and PSK, which are believed to support immune function and have been used in some cultures as an adjunct to cancer treatments. Research suggests they may have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects, though more studies are needed to confirm these benefits.
Turkey Tail grows year-round in temperate forests and is not considered edible due to its tough, leathery texture. Instead, it is typically consumed as a tea or in supplement form. Always consult a healthcare professional before using it medicinally.
Yes, we should all do our own due diligence before trying something.
The rings are really beautiful-so many variations!
Nature has provided so much goodness for us that either mankind has forgotten about or has yet to discover!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tale of Turkey Tail! That’s gonna be it for me. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV Joshua 1:7-9
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have
good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
