Saludos Hivers, El “Gato” Andrés Galarraga, es una de las figuras más emblemáticas y queridas dentro del deporte venezolano. Un excepcional pelotero y un gran ser humano, aquel muchacho nacido en el Barrio Chapellín de Caracas, su vida representa el esfuerzo incansable por alcanzar los sueños, un talento innato pero también consciente de que siempre el trabajo duro es la clave para el éxito.
Greetings Hivers, 'El Gato' Andrés Galarraga is one of the most emblematic and beloved figures in Venezuelan sports. An exceptional baseball player and a great human being, that young man born in the Chapellín neighborhood of Caracas, his life represents the tireless effort to achieve dreams, an innate talent but also aware that hard work is always the key to success.
In this regard, the most difficult moment of his life occurred in 1999 when he was diagnosed with a cancerous lymphoma in his back. This forced him to miss the entire season that year. However, he faced this with a very optimistic attitude, and his family's faith was crucial.

Galarraga underwent chemotherapy and, after a year-long battle, returned to the playing fields. His comeback was triumphant, and in his first game with the Atlanta Braves on April 3, 2000, he hit a home run that was hailed as the most famous of his career, symbolizing his victory over the illness. We remember that moment as memorable, as it was like watching a true hero.

Muy merecido post para reconocer a una figura que es como debieran ser todos los deportistas, ejemplares tanto dentro como fuera del campo de juego y su batalla contra el cáncer realmente la puedo calificar de épica, orgullo de que sea venezolano y latinoamericano, en tiempos donde su ejemplo es ilustrativo de cuánto valemos y cuánto honor nos cabe ni menos ni más que nadie en el mundo pero capaces de las mayores grandezas y de las mayores virtudes para que nadie nos menosprecie aunque casi siempre el menosprecio nace de la baja autoestima de quienes no reconocen que somos ciudadanos del mundo y necesitan intentar humillar para sentir una falsa superioridad que lo que realmente enseña es mezquindad y autodesprecio... Gracias por este post tan justo y necesario de resaltar!!!
A well-deserved post to honor a figure who embodies what all athletes should strive to be—exemplary both on and off the field. His battle against cancer can truly be described as epic. I feel proud that he is Venezuelan and Latin American, especially in times when his example illustrates how much we are worth and how much honor we carry—not more, not less than anyone else in the world—but capable of the greatest achievements and the highest virtues, so that no one should ever look down on us. Though, sadly, contempt often stems from the low self-esteem of those who fail to recognize that we are citizens of the world and feel the need to humiliate others to feed a false sense of superiority, which in truth only reveals pettiness and self-loathing. Thank you for this fair and necessary post that shines a light on such greatness!
