The Governor who is a lover of sporting activities, treated the players to a nice time, in his speech he gifted the team a brand new 32 seater bus, 100,000,000.00 and also donated a plot of land to each player and coach in Akwa-ibom state, promised to stand by them and upgrading their facilities in a new stadium that would be commissioned next

Victory as Akwa United thrilled their fans after lifting the National Professional Football league(NPFL) on August 1, 2021 at the Akpabio international stadium uyo after their massive win against the MFM FC 5-2 to lift the trophy for the first time in 25 years
It was a well deserving victory for the Akwa United as they played 37matches, with 71points which is 9point clear second place Nasarawa united.
