My Sporting Bucket List

Note: Bull-riding isn't part of this list...lol

I rarely attend live sporting events anyways so I should be forgiven for having not given this extensive thought. However, this piece is in response to the #bucketlist discussion started by cryptoandcoffee and coolguy for the sportstalksocial community.

After giving this fair considertion, I realized that my sporting bucket list - a list of desired sporting events I dream of attending - isn't that much all together. All the same, I have decided to stick with genuine interest and deep desire rather than list random events I would likely enjoy but am okay not attending either way.

The Boston Marathon

One of the most exclusive and elaborate marathon meetings in the World, the Boston Marathon is amongst the most desired destinations for elite Athletes. Now this is top on my bucket list of desired events to attend, but as an athlete rather than a spectator.

Qualifications standards are pretty high. The minimum qualifying mark for my age bracket is 3Hrs30Mins or under. Going by my personal best for the Half marathon which I have rarely run, I expect to finish a full marathon outside the 5Hour mark.

As of today, I am yet to complete a full marathon, so I expect the qualifying time to be well beyond my reach at the moment. In a few years though if I am able to maintain my health and fitness level, I will inevitably become a full marathoner and seek to qualifying for this prestigious event.

Nadal's Last French Open

One of my all time favorite players from the modern Era, it would be a privilege to grace Roland Garros knowing the Greatest Clay court player in History is about to end his watch. I reckon Nadal still has 2 good years left in him at the highest level, so my estimate should be around 2023-2024.

Going by my current finances though, a travel all the way would be a huge luxury, and one I definitely cannot afford at the moment. However, I am keeping the optimism alive that things do change and two years is a long time for anything to happen.

I hope Nadal stays fit, healthy and motivated over the next few years while I try to actualize my dreams of seeing him lift one last Roland Garros trophy live and direct in Paris.

WWE WrestleMania

No, am not a huge wrestling fan, but this particular event is right up there in my list of must see events as part of a live crowd. This mammoth events usually sees Stadium sized attendances and is pulsated by an electrifying atmosphere that would make anyone feel excited about what is to come, even without prior following of sports entertainment.

This year's WrestleMania witnessed a reintroduction of live attendances to the WWE following closed shows due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. A wrestling live attendance is usually one of the livelier sporting crowds anyone can be in, and WrestleMania represents the highest of all shows.

Conclusion

Of Course this list is subject to additions in the future and I certainly do not close the door on watching any sporting activity that I would thoroughly enjoy.

The Boston Marathon is something I can see you doing as you are a results driven person. Nadal is unfortunately injury prone and his knees may not last that long but I hope they do for your sake anyway of trying to see him live in Paris. Thanks for sharing your sporting bucket list with us as it is great to see what everyone wants to do and see.

I too would love to go to Wrestlemania even though I have kind of had a falling out with WWE in the past 2 years.

I have been to just a few live wrestling events in my life and even though none of them were televised the electricity of the crowd is a real game changer. It is so much more fun than watching it on TV... just like most sports.

I wanted to put Roland Garros on my list, but realised that I lived next to the courts for a very long time, and never went 😁. I rented an apartment there for a while, of course I played on clay courts my entire life, Nadal has always been one of a kind! Tennis players tend to have longer careers than in other sports!

I would love to go wrestlemania but I would opt for any AEW event, WWE is all about TV ratings now.
