Vidit's celebration of his victory over Nakamura did not last long, as in the third round he lost in a similar fashion to his compatriot Praggnanandhaa. Again, the opening preparation, especially the surprising novelty, made the difference and tipped the balance in favour of the winner. It is hard to believe that Praggnanandhaa got away with using such a suspicious defence as the Delayed Schliemann. However he ended up winning. The position we see at the moment is just one variation that could have happened. Black would have lost had he played the suicidal Qxg2. We know that didn't happen, but let's still calculate what would have happened.

La celebración de Vidit por su victoria sobre Nakamura no duró mucho, ya que en la tercera ronda perdió de forma similar ante su compatriota Praggnanandhaa. Una vez más, la preparación de apertura, especialmente la sorprendente novedad, marcó la diferencia e inclinó la balanza a favor del ganador. Es difícil creer que Praggnanandhaa se saliera con la suya utilizando una defensa tan sospechosa como la Schliemann diferida. Sin embargo, acabó ganando.
