This position of the Smyslov System against the English Opening was presented to me last night in an online tournament. White did not demonstrate correct understanding of this structure with his moves d4 and Qa4. I opted to play Bb7 here and work on the position little by little. Do you agree with my decision or was there an expedient punishment?
