White's attack seems rudimentary and undeserved, but it is a matter of perspective. At its core, chess is a game of pure calculation, so what matters is what mathematically works. Of course, to humans with our prior knowledge (or biases) it seems "unnatural", but that's the way matters are. It improves the game of white who erred in the solution.
