Cuanto vale un jugador.? | Análisis-Opinión | How much is a player worth? | Analysis-Opinion | ESP-ENG
The second half of the MLB season has already begun, and we are in the middle of July, specifically in the week of the twenties, where the player transfer market becomes very famous, because the teams with a real chance of advancing to the post-season and therefore aspiring to the championship, make the respective movements to acquire the necessary pieces before the deadline, which is August 2, a period allowed for the players involved in the transaction or change, they can play the rest of the season with their new team, without violating the administrative rules of the league.
CUÁNTO VALE UN JUGADOR.? / HOW MUCH IS A PLAYER WORTH?
When we ask ourselves this question, the first thing that comes to mind is money, the monetary amount that a player is worth, of course they all have their value, but what I am going to refer to in this particular case is the value that The teams give a player to the point of making offers that for me are truly exaggerated, why? because it greatly compromises the heritage and future of the organization
Everyone can make the offers they want, place the value that they consider necessary to negotiate a move, but what they should not do is offer so much money or so many players in exchange to bring their teams contending for the title for so little, or just one player, pretending that he is going to solve all the problems in a game, where 9 players are in charge of developing the plays, until they take you to get what you really want, sportingly speaking.
And so it is like that, nine men are in charge in this sport, to develop a game as such, but lately there have been a series of rumors and a lot of information, which in these times have become a custom or a new trend among teams and the market, and it is to make exchanges between teams releasing or seceding the teams which have that coveted player much more than normal, money, active players and rookie players who are part of the future of an organization.
This case is being seen in recent days with the Dominican player and Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, his talent is indisputable but it has been more the rejection of the proporsal offered by his team of more than 400 million dollars what has generated for different MLB ninths to start offering the best they have for this player, for one piece; It's not that it's not worth it, but offering prospects and future draft picks I think is a lot.
Everyone goes to the numbers that a player places, it is normal but not everything revolves around that, a single figure in this sport cannot meet all the needs of a team and more so in baseball, unlike other related activities with sport, in the case of soccer or basketball, in which you can apply this, but both to defense and batting, in the case of the sport of the glove, the ball and the bat, no player no matter how much they put the numbers that you place will guarantee success.
Let's take an example, a pitcher who has good numbers, or statistics of a superstar, in case he is a starting pitcher, we would be talking about throwing about 20 wins in 30 starts, a percentage that would be equivalent to just 15 or 20% of victories in a season, it does not guarantee success in this game, it also happens with a position player, an average of 300 points, about 40 home runs and more than 100 RBIs, we would be talking about exactly the same, 40 hits complete lap of about 160 that connects your team and the hundred runs batted in of about 700 total runs scored collectively, represent a low percentage.
UN SOLO JUGADOR PUEDE VALER TANTO.? / A SINGLE PLAYER CAN BE WORTH SO MUCH.?
Not really! a single player cannot lead you to commit all those who have worked for years in your organization, that represents the young talent that you have trained so that they occupy an important place in your team in the future, and you give them in exchange for a single player representing this, the present.? I understand that everything has become a business but I give you another example, Mike Trout, this player puts up truly impressive numbers every season, hits, RBI, home runs, OPS and his team the Angels, they have not qualified for the post-season in decades, which leads you to the conclusion that statistics, no matter how good they are, do not guarantee collective success in this sport.
