Para todos los latinoamericanos en especial los países caribeños, el béisbol es sin duda su deporte favorito, por tal motivo a lo largo de muchos años de esos orígenes han salido un sin fin de jugadores que no solo han hecho vida en MLB, si no que han tenido éxito, hasta el punto de ser altamente reconocidos, llevándolos a lo más alto de esta actividad del guante el bate y la pelota, que es el ingresar al salón de la fama del béisbol, o lo que para muchos expertos es, el templo de los inmortales.

A pesar de que David Ortiz no es proveniente de mi natal Venezuela, su largo recorrido por la MLB, durante casi 20 temporadas fueron dignos de sentirme orgulloso, porque.? debido a que fue un jugador que yo vi crecer, levantarse y culminar su carrera al igual que muchos otros de una manera exitosa, y ver que su estancia en el mejor béisbol del mundo haya culminado en el salón de la fama es más que agradable.

En lo particular me llena de satisfacción como latinoamericano en ver a un jugador iniciarse para luego observar su recorrido en MLB, y terminar su carrera de una manera exitosa, eso me lleva a recopilar un poco de historia y ser testigo de lo que fue este jugador, ya he entendido como mis padre y mis tíos, así como mis abuelos defienden las actuaciones de los jugadores de su época, pero yo ahora puedo decir que he visto jugar a todo un inmortal, David Ortiz es solo uno de tantos que he visto y estoy seguro que seguiré viendo a otros mas, espero pronto ver a Miguel Cabrera y Omar Vizquel, para así llenar mis propios testimonios en el béisbol, llegando a la conclusión que los 90’ y los principios del presente siglo para mi han sido la mejor poca del béisbol en las grandes ligas.
