Reconocimiento a sus trayectorias, Análisis-opinión / Recognition of their careers, Analysis-opinion | ESP-ENG
Leaving aside the events of the major leagues, we cannot overlook the fact that a new start of the professional baseball season in Venezuela (LVBP) is approaching and with it an event that took place in the State of Aragua, specifically within the Tigres de Aragua, The Tigres de Aragua have retired the numbers on their team jerseys of two great players, Richard Garces and Roberto Zambrano, who during the decade of the 90's shined in Venezuelan baseball with the Bengals. They not only stood out with the Aragueño team, but also helped other teams as reinforcements to achieve great achievements in the local circuit.
RECONOCIMIENTO A SUS TRAYECTORIAS / RECOGNITION OF THEIR CAREERS
The 90's were not the best years for the Tigres de Aragua, in a period where other teams such as Los Navegantes del Magallanes and Cardenales de Lara dominated, there was no room for the feline troop, but that was not an impediment for certain players to stand out in their ranks who would later become insignias of this team.
But in this sport not everything can be individual, the talent must exist of course, but that has to be combined with the game as a whole, that even if you have figures in certain areas of the field, either with the lumber offensively speaking, and good pitchers from the mound does not guarantee success in a tournament as demanding as it is the Venezuelan.
I say this because the local tournament consists of only three months of competition, before entering its post-season or round robin phase in January, which is why it is somewhat demanding, since you have little time to be at your best and perform at the highest level, to help your team qualify with a margin of victories and defeats in the standings according to the circumstances in which you must perform or you will be left out, to dispute the final phase of the championship.
In the midst of this difficulty, the great talents always come to light, the pitchers; Richard Garces, a relief pitcher specialized in closing games, emerged as one of the greatest in the 90's, nicknamed ''Guapo'', he was in charge of finishing the games for the Tigers, performing his work in a categorical manner, with uncomfortable pitches that were almost impossible to hit.

Another player who came to the fore in the midst of these demands of our local tournament at that time was Roberto Zambrano, the second of three brothers active in Venezuelan professional baseball, brother of Eduardo and Jose Luis Zambrano, enters into action with the team triguero, as one of the best producers of the team, his powerful bat leads to his numbers, for the most part, were always considered the most valuable player award in each season.
Zambrano played for 19 seasons in Venezuela, his beginnings were with the Aguilas del Zulia and the last 13 approximately were with the Tigres de Aragua, being these his best campaigns, he hit a total of 71 complete round-trippers, approaching the record of Baudilio Diaz of more home runs in a season (20), being very close to reach it in the 2001-2022 season where he gave 19 home runs, staying only one away from the record.

NÚMEROS EN SUS CAMISETAS DE TRAYECTORIA / NUMBERS ON THEIR CAREER JERSEYS
The 124 saves represent part of the category of Richard Garces, in addition to being the largest sum for any pitcher in his category so far in the league, and the productive and consistent seasons of Roberto Zambrano, have been worth for the set of the Tigres de Aragua have retired their respective numbers to never be used by another player, #12 of Garces and #36 of Zambrano, representing this recognition of their respective careers as professional players as representatives of the feline team of Aragua state.

Honor a quien honor merece.
