Show For Charity

I've been waiting for this match or show, call it as you want, because I knew it would be fun. Unfortunately I could only catch half of it but I'm happy anyway. Not long ago I had a post about the charity tennis event Nick Kyrgios initiated a couple of weeks ago.

Australia is facing maybe the biggest disaster right now. Bush fires are destroying the country, people have died, animals have died, homes have burned to the ground and it's not over yet. These last days was raining but that's not enough to stop the fire. This is a huge huge problem, far from being over and Australia needs all the help it can get.

Nick Kyrgios came up with the idea of organizing this tennis charity show that was welcomed by the tennis federation as well as big names in tennis like Roger Federer, Rafael Nada, Serena Williams and many others.

I knew from the start this is going to be a lot of fun as it's for charity and the pressure is not as high as during real matches. That doesn't mean they are not going to give their best performance.

So today I saw the first match between Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios. Two different type of players, both good but still, Federer is better as he has years of experience.

The other aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is discipline. Fererer at his age and experience never lacks discipline. I've never seen him doing something unprofessional, while Nick Kyrgios holds the title for the biggest fine in tennis history. I remember when he got the fine I told myself this guy won't get too far with his attitude.

I was wrong and Nick has proved I'm wrong. I'm glad it turned out this was as he's a very talented player and a very good man. He started to grow in my eyes when I saw him playing after that fine. It looks like he got the message, he understood there's no other choice than to control his anger and start acting like a grown up.

Today these two guys made tennis fans enjoy one hour of show. They were laughing, having fun while playing. Federer won the match that was only one set. It was a lot of fun but the best part is they have raised $4,826,014 and it's not over yet.

Djokovic and Nadal had earlier teamed up to win a doubles match against Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Nadal announced he and Federer would be donating a combined 250,000 Australian Dollars (£132,000) to provide relief for those affected by the wildfires, which have killed a reported 28 people so far, including four firefighters, and a staggering estimation of more than one billion animals. source

It's heartwarming to see these people coming together to help those in need.

I really admire roger and nick - in fact all the players who are joining in this worthwhile tournament, it brings a message to the the people if Australia that the world does care - now if only the high paid footballers would follow suit and help raise much needed money for a country in need
