Yasso 3:40, grateful

(Edited)

Saturday morning, a cloudy day after a light rain, Since @niko.lemark had some obligations to fulfill this morning we stayed at home. While waiting for Niko I had a couple of hours time. I went to a track nearby, Slovan stadium in Kodeljevo.

The goal was to run a Yasso exercise in 3:40 for two laps.

The execution? Almost perfect. In last couple of rounds I couldn't really keep 1:50 laps. I was late a second or two. No problem. It's early in the season and I did no pace work at all so far.

Satisfied with the outcome, almost 16 K at 5:10 average pace which is great.

I always marvel at the average pace achieved after pace workouts. It's way better than I would have thought. Or, looking at it from the other perspective. Would I be able to run a 16 K tempo run at a 5:10 pace? No way!

Wondering about the title? I am simply grateful to be able to run and have fun, that's all.

Amazing results. 😃 Keep it up 🤩
I remember when I was training in athletics and running marathons. It was a lot of fun and a sort of meditation in movement. Back then, we didn't have this fancy tracking equipment, just a stopwatch. 😂
Best of luck with your preparations. 🎉

Hey, thanks a lot, hvala :)

Did you do any Yasso workouts in your time?

Nema na čemu 😃
I had to google yasso workouts, to see what that is... 😂 Now that I know, what that is, I can tell you that we definitely did it, among other exercises for preparation. Our trainer would often say that if we want to finish 42km within a satisfactory time, we have to practice as if the marathon is 60km long. 🤭

Yes, an athletes standpoint :)

For us ordinary humans a long run of 34 K was more than enough.

What I like about Yasso is that Bart created it backwards, took it from marathon times and made a workout that fits.

Also, it doesn't look too hard yet you achieve a lot with it. 15 years ago I used to do it every month to check my progress.

"For us ordinary humans..."😂
I was training athletics some 20 years ago, I don't think I would be able to run 42 m nowadays, let alone 42 km. Hahahahahaha 🤣🤣 Just kidding, but still - without practice, the ability goes away. What you don't use you lose.

Yasso workouts are very good and motivational. Keep at it and you will achieve amazing results. 👏🎉
