Alpe Adria Trail Virtual Challenge, Weekend #2

avatar

Sunday, April 19th 2020, 7:30 PM. Part 2 of the Alpe Adria Trail Cup Virtual Challenge begins.

As with the challenge on the previous weekend the running goal is to climb as high as possible. With an addition of required distance.

Here are the goals and the medals awarded.

MedalGoal
Bronze10 km run with 250 meters of total climb
Silver20 km run with 500 meters of total climb
Gold30 km run with 1,000 meters of total climb

Guess which goal did I pick to be my challenge?

Correct - go for gold!

This is the result:

Can you see the seesaw pattern in the first third of the profile? I was climbing every little peak three times from different directions. It was easier to collect over 1,000 meters of vertical climb that to gather the required distance of 30 kilometers.

In fact, the last 5 kilometers, all downhill on tarmac and asphalt, were the hardest.

The map of the run, more a hike, as seen in the Coros Pace watch app.

The same map from Strava.

Again, as with the last weekend the weather was beautiful, Sunny, warm, even hot in the end. Especially in the first two hours when the birds we singing loudly and there were no other hikers it was a pure poetry.

I hope that these photos can bring you the joy that I was lucky to experience this morning.

Cut down or fallen trees at the start of the journey

The top of the Tabor hill

Climbs like this one were my companions

And this climb, with slippery leafs

Fallen tree again, with tree mushrooms

Another top of the hill, another branch-wigwam

Village of Gameljne. Can you spot the duck?

A familiar view of Šmarna gora

Blueberry fields forever

1,000 meters of vertical climb reached after 3 hours and almost 17 kilometers. Earlier than the last Sunday

ALERT - singing video ahead - no dancing!

Village of Dobeno. This time I took the forest path and skipped the dead-ends of this settlement.

At the top of Rašica hill. 1,242 meters climbed, three hours and a half, 19 kilometers

View towards Julian Alps and Triglav from the Rašica tower

Another video, Proof of Run - from the Rašica top

Just one photo from the last third of the run. It was all down and not as much fun as running up. Fancy tree rots

End of the story. It was another great experience thanks to the girls and boys from the Alpe Adria Trail Cup.

All the physical activity data that I display in my @exhaust and @actifit reports is gathered with the help of Coros Pace sports watch and displayed with Coros app.
