In philosophy, proving too much is a logical fallacy which occurs when an argument reaches the desired conclusion in such a way as to make that conclusion only a special case or corollary consequence of a larger, obviously absurd conclusion.link

For example, the argument "Nobody should engage in genetic engineering because Nazis" can just as easily be extended to say "Nobody should eat vegetables because Hitler ate vegetables", so the general rule proves too much.link

The almost too much proof and too much proof can be categorised together, and they are figurative, not literal.

It is a use of exaggeration to mean something, maybe not realistic or not applicable.

However, I will say proof cannot be too much literally. It only helps the case even more.
