Mud Pie!
I love the name mud pie, it sounds catchy. As you know, the name of the pie is exactly as it looks. Then we can say the name of the pie is characterized by the way it looks.
I have seen that the name of the pie in full is the Mississippi mud pie, named after the Mississippi. It is a really good name coined from something peculiar.
I must confess, I have not tasted the mud pie before. But from the looks of things, it is going to be very delicious.
According to The Oxford Companion to Sugar and Sweets, Mississippi mud pie is a rich chocolate dessert "variously composed of pudding, cake, biscuits, ice cream, whipped cream, marshmallows, and liqueur presented in a cookie crust." The pie is often built in layers, and topped with chocolate. Link
