ICC T20 World Cup

T20 World Cup 2022 has started in Australia. Where the South Asian country Sri Lanka and the African country Namibia met today in the first match. The entire cricket world has witnessed a new history in this match. Namibia won the first match of the T20 World Cup by defeating test-playing nation Sri Lanka in T by 55 runs. Such a win in their first World Cup is promising.

As happy as this win is for Namibia, this loss is just as painful for Sri Lanka. Just a few days ago they won the crown of excellence in Asia. It wasn't easy for Sri Lanka to win the title after defeating teams like Pakistan and India. But they did exactly that. After a spectacular comeback against Bangladesh, they didn't lose another match in the entire tournament. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan to win the Asia Cup title.

On the other hand, Namibia's road to the World Cup wasn't easy at all. After a great performance in the qualifiers, they made it to the main World Cup. This time the team defeated Sri Lanka in the first match of the main phase.

But before the start of the match, the scene was completely different. Namibia entered the field as an underdog. On the other hand, Sri Lanka was considered one of the favorites after winning the Asia Cup.

In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl. In this match, Sri Lanka's playing XI was:-

Dasun Shanaka (c),Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dushmantha Chameera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Danushka Gunathilaka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Chamika Karunaratne, Pramod Madushan, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga.

Namibia XI in this match:-
Gerhard Erasmus (c),Michael van Lingen, Divan la Cock, Stephan Baard, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Jan Frylinck, JJ Smit, David Wiese, Zane Green (wk), Ben Shikongo, Bernard Scholtz.

However, the Namibian openers didn't do well when they came to bat at the beginning. The first wicket was lost by just 6 runs in the 2nd over. After losing one wicket after another at regular intervals, their collection was 95 at the end of the 15th over. However, the context of the match changed in the last 5 overs. The batting tandem of Jan Frylinck and Smit saw the Namibians score a good total of 163 runs in the allotted 20 overs. As a result, they started dreaming of winning the match.

Sri Lanka lost three wickets for just 21 runs when they came to bat. It was no longer possible for them to handle that pressure. In the end, the team was all out for only 108 runs. As a result, the African country Namibia got a huge and historic victory by 55 runs in the first match of the main World Cup.

Every player in Namibia has contributed to this victory. They have performed well as a team. Power-hitting in the latter end and brilliant performances in bowling and fielding were the main reasons for this victory. This historic victory will be remembered by the cricketing world, especially Namibians.

To be honest, I am not very familiar with this sport. But after reading this, it sounds like a great achievement for a country like Namibia. Congrats to them!
