SAFF Championship refers South Asian Football Federation Championship. Mainly South Asian countries participate in this competition. It is also known as the World Cup for South Asia. Bangladesh is one of the participating countries in this competition. Bangladesh became the champion in this competition in 2003.After that Bangladesh never be champion again. But Bangladesh is one of the favorite teams of the current event*.

Although the condition of Bangladesh football is destroying day by day, But this team is now well organized for this event. The addition of new coach Oscar Bruzon and some Expatriate player of Bangladesh origin to this team has greatly increased the strength of Bangladesh team. Jamal Bhuiyan, Tariq Kazi are now one of the players in the team who are going to perform regularly. With a fairly good quality team, Bangladesh has participated in the current SAF Championship.

Bangladesh is in great form in the current SAF Championship game. Good team combination and strength helped them to win the first match against Sri Lanka and in second match they Draw against tournament hot favourite team India. Now let's see how they performed in these two matches!

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka First Match Analysis:

The first match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was held on 1st October. Both teams fielded their strongest XI. Bangladesh played in a 4-4-2 formation and Sri Lanka played 5-4-1. From the beginning of the game, the Bangladesh team seemed very confident. Bangladesh started attacking one after another but neither team scored a goal till the break.

After the break, in the 55th minute of the match, Sri Lankan player Duckson Puslas got a red card for a foul inside the D-box and Bangladesh got a penalty. Topu Barman took Bangladesh ahead in the 56th minute with a confident goal from the penalty spot. Then no other team Can’t score a goal and Bangladesh won the match by 1-0 goal difference. Bangladesh got three valuable points.

Bangladesh vs India High Voltage Match Analysis:

The match between Bangladesh and India is also considered as El-Classico in South Asia. That is why the match was at the peak of everyone's interest. Moreover, the match was a test for the new coach of Bangladesh. He passed that test one hundred percent.

The match was held on the 4th October on time. As India was ahead of Bangladesh in terms of strength, many thoughts that India would win the match. But by winning the previous match, confident Bangladesh is not like giving up. Both teams dominated the match but Sunil Chhetri put India ahead with a goal in the 26th minute of the match. Then there were no more goals until the break.

After the break, Bangladesh player Bishwanath Ghosh saw a red card and Bangladesh became a team of 10 players. But Bangladesh did not give up. In the 74th minute of the match, defender Yeasin Arafat equalized for Bangladesh by scoring a superb goal with a excellent header from Jamal Bhuiyan's corner kick. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as neither team can’t score again. After this, Bangladesh came in second place in the points table.

Bangladesh's performance in these two matches was spectacular which has not been seen in the last few years. The team’s confidence was admirable for the new coach’s tactics. I hope Bangladesh will play great in the matches ahead. If this trend continues, it is only a matter of time Bangladesh becomes the champion again. Best of luck for the upcoming matches.
