My Actifit Report Card: February 26 2022

Dear friends

Today we are front row witnesses of a historic event such as the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, in a show of force that emulates dark episodes of the past. The fact is that after the end of the Second World War, regrettable events have taken place in Europe, such as the war in Yugoslavia and the one taking place at this moment in Ukraine.

The invading forces, in spite of their apparent power, are facing the natural resistance of the brave Ukrainian people; additionally, as they are motorized forces that require fuel supply, as they have not foreseen the resupply of the units, they will soon be inoperative. Also other logistical problems they are going to face is the impossibility of feeding their troops. All this paints a bleak picture for the soldiers of the Russian army declared enemy of the Ukrainian people.

On the other hand, the solidarity of neighboring countries is allowing the helpless population, women, children and the elderly to be sheltered in an effort to minimize the trauma and despair they are experiencing.

My faith is placed in Almighty God in this difficult hour for Ukraine. May His mercy be upon this brave country and may the people of good will in Russia who are innocent of the folly of their rulers soon be set free and may truth, justice, the light of Christ shine upon them.

Here I share with you two photographs of two gardens of xerophytic vegetation present in my housing estate.

My wishes are for peace for humanity.

Estimados amigos

Hoy somos testigos de primera fila de un acontecimiento histórico como lo está siendo la invasión de Ucrania por parte del ejército ruso, en un alarde de fuerza que emula episodios oscuros del pasado. El caso es que luego de finalizada la segunda guerra mundial ha ocurrido en Europa hechos lamentables como lo fue la guerra de Yugoslavia y la que se desarrolla en estos momentos en Ucrania.

Las fuerzas invasoras a pesar de su aparente poderío se están enfrentando a la natural resistencia del valiente pueblo ucraniano, adicionalmente al ser fuerzas motorizadas que requieren de suministro de combustible, al no haber previsto el reabastecimiento de las unidades pronto serán inoperativas. También otros problemas de logística que se van a enfrentar es la imposibilidad de alimentar a sus tropas. Todo ello dibuja un panorama sombrío para los soldados del ejército ruso declarado enemigo del pueblo ucraniano.

Por otro lado, la solidaridad de países vecinos está permitiendo que la población indefensa, mujeres, niños y ancianos estén siendo acogidos en un esfuerzo para minimizar el trauma y desespero que están viviendo.

Mi fe está puesta en Dios Omnipotente en esta hora difícil para Ucrania. Sea su misericordia para este país valiente y que las personas de buena voluntad de Rusia que son inocentes de la locura de sus gobernantes sean pronto liberadas y reine la verdad, la justicia, brille la luz de Cristo sobre ellos.
