Today, after serving the guests breakfast, and saying goodbye we chilled for a while.
Walked the dogs then took my stock back to the shop and sorted stuff out.
Walked the dogs some more
Today, I wrote for 5 mins using @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt using The Most Dangerous Writing App
He stared at the spot on the carpet as Madelyne spoke to him.
His eyes were drawn to it and try as he might every time he pulled his eyes up to meet those of his wife, they were dragged back to the spot as though they were on a thread.
"What are you looking at?" Madelyne said, her voice crisp, and irritated. "Am I so ugly you can't bare to look at me when I'm talking to you?" She glanced down at the carpet.
Surely she was bound to see it and then the jig would be up.
He would be done for, she would demand to know what he had done and he would cave in and spill the beans.
But if she saw the stain on the carpet she did not mention it (and if she had seen it, Brian was fairly sure she would mention it).
"No dear," Brian said. "You have a beautiful face. I've always said it. You know I have."
Madelyn snorted. "Well, don't forget what I've told you," she said. "It's important you are there on time."
She spun on her heels and left Brian alone in the study wondering why she hadn't seen the stain.
