En el año 2006 mis hijos estudiaban la escuela primaria y uno de los padres de los amiguitos, era el kinesiólogo de los Tigres de Aragua, equipo de béisbol profesional en la liga venezolana invernal. Resulta que nuestro hijo menor era muy amigo de su hijo y tuvo la gentileza de conseguir e invitar tickets para presenciar los partidos jugados por los Leones del Caracas en la Serie del Caribe. Para el contexto, esa serie fue la primera en la historia jugada en parques de dos ciudades diferentes, que se encuentran a escasos 30 minutos la una de la otra: Valencia y Maracay.

As it is, the tickets were a perfect fit for us because, as is common knowledge, I am a fan of the Leones. ¿Saludos tengo una duda el “hit de oro” es aquel que se da para ganar dejando al rival en el terreno? o para ganar el compromiso en el noveno inning? Lo pregunto porque en el año 2000 aquella serie mundial entre Yankees y Mets de New York, Luis Sojo dio un sencillo inofensivo que paso por encima de segunda base hasta el terreno corto de centro, alli entraron dos carreras, pero a los Mets les correspondía cerrar el noveno ante Mariano Rivera y no produjeron carrera alguna, los Yankees se titularon y la prensa en Venezuela título "Luis Sojo da hit de oro para ganar la serie mundial".
No, el hit de oro solo se da si el equipo es local...si el visitante anota en el noveno para irse arriba, jamás puede definirse como "hit de oro".

El término en inglés para ese tipo de hit es "walk-off", así que puedes imaginar el porqué no lo llaman como su traducción literal.
