The drama’s been off the charts in the AL showdown, and the shocker came courtesy of the Dodgers, who straight-up swept the squad with the best regular-season record in 2025. But let’s break it down: The Toronto Blue Jays looked flat at home, coughing up the first two games and digging themselves into a deep hole heading into the road trip to Seattle. Still, they showed some serious grit in the next two matchups, knotting the series at two apiece. Last night, Game 5 went down in the land of eternal drizzle. The M’s knew exactly what they were doing when they brought back Venezuelan third baseman Eugenio Suárez before the trade deadline—even though the guy had a quiet October in the Wild Card and Division rounds. But that script flipped once the Mariners hit the series that really mattered. Why?

     Bueno, "Geno" se destapó a batear y todas las críticas en Seattle se acallaron.       Well, Geno broke out the lumber and shut down all the noise in Seattle. He’s 6-for-19 in the series, and just last night he drove in five runs with a pair of bombs: a solo shot in the second inning to put the M’s on the board, and then an absolute missile the other way with the bags juiced—off a 98 MPH heater. Not only did he seal the 6–2 dub, he became just the second Mariner ever to hit a grand slam in the postseason. That blast gave Seattle a 3–2 edge in the ALCS, and now the Blue Jays are staring down the barrel—they’ll need to take both remaining games if they want a ticket to the Fall Classic. If the M’s punch their ticket in Toronto, they’ll head to their first-ever World Series in L.A., where the Dodgers are chillin’ and waiting, barely breaking a sweat.

     When a true baseball junkie watches what Shohei Ohtani does on the bump and in the box, it’s hard not to wonder if the guy’s even human. The Japanese phenom rewrites the record books nearly every time he steps on the field. He’s flat-out unreal. I mean, how do you even wrap your head around tossing six scoreless frames, punching out ten hitters, and then going yard three times in the same game? That’s just bonkers. Forget Babe Ruth—we’re looking at the greatest ballplayer to ever lace ’em up. He shattered and set a bunch of records, but here’s the one that really blew my mind: those three dingers traveled a combined 1,354 feet. You know how much raw power it takes to do that? That’s an average of 450 feet per bomb! No way this dude’s from Earth. It’s Ohtani in his own stratosphere… and then everybody else playing catch-up in a lower tier.

     ¿Y por qué fue sorpresiva la serie donde Los Ángeles barrió a Milwaukee? Bueno, sabíamos que el pitcheo abridor de los esquivadores había mejorado luego de dos incorporaciones de lanzadores lesionados y la vuelta de Ohtani a las aperturas. Pero jamás pensamos iban a jugar al nivel que lo hicieron en ésta serie. Menos, que el bullpen iba a responder del modo como lo hizo. Estamos hablando de unos Dodgers que solo permitieron 4 carreras (una por juego) en 34 episodios a la peligrosa batería de los Cerveceros. Y cuando usted tiene un cuerpo de pitcheo que lanza primores de ésta naturaleza, ni que tenga a 9 Ohtani en la alineación contraria: nadie podrá hacerle daño. Ahora los esquivadores esperan tranquilos en Las Ángeles, hasta el viernes 24 de Octubre para comenzar la serie mundial. Well, we knew their starting rotation had leveled up after bringing back a couple of arms off the injured list and sliding Ohtani back into the mix. But nobody expected them to ball out the way they did in this series. Even less so that the bullpen would lock it down like that. We’re talking about a Dodgers squad that gave up just four runs—one per game—across 34 innings to the Brewers’ stacked lineup. And when your pitching staff is dealing like that, it wouldn’t matter if the other team had nine Ohtanis in the lineup—nobody’s touching them.
