Dicho esto, Altuve vió como Jesús Sánchez bateó un imparable por el medio del campo, luego de que Jeremy Peña entregara el primer out. Con el hombre anclado en la base, José se dirigió a la caja de bateo mirando su bate y ajeno a todos los gritos. Hizo el amague acostumbrado antes del primer lanzamiento del abridor Cam Schlittler, quien en un descuido, lanzó una recta de 4 costuras a 89 MPH dejada arriba y por el medio del home plate.
