La división central de la liga Americana siempre es un misterio. Con todo el predominio de los Mellizos en los últimos años, debiera ser fácil de analizar más allá de toda duda, pero ésta es la segunda división más débil del béisbol y tiene como sello el mismo problema que la división central de la liga Nacional: muchas de sus estrellas son desconocidas y apenas logran saltar al estrellato si se cambian a equipos ubicados en las costas estadounidenses de ambos lados. Tiene que ver con mercados pequeños a excepción del de Chicago. Y aunque debiera ser una ciudad que reine en alguna de ambas divisiones, han sido un chasco en los últimos años.

Si no fuera así no se explicaría como los Medias Blancas han venido a menos desde hace un par de años cuando todos pensaron que la reconstrucción había terminado. Juegan para balance de 9 ganados y 20 perdidos en la liga del cactus ocupando el último lugar del spring training. Su sitio en los power rankings no está mejor: 28 de 30 equipos. Así las cosas, tienen nueva gerencia que no hizo demasiado en invierno, perdieron más de 100 juegos el año pasado siendo uno de los equipos que menos carreras anotó.
