Some stones should be officially lifted and used and new stones should be brought back to India's water stream.Before 2016, stones were crushed in these quarries. That stone from Bangladesh was exported to Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura via Tamabil.It was a historical misfortune for India to lose this Bholaganj Jaflong. The stones rolling down from the hills of Meghalaya with the current used to come to a stop in this Bholaganj Jaflong through the Sari and Dawki rivers.
As a result of the extraction of that stone in this region, India could not store stones in its part. Due to which it had to buy the stones from its mountains again from Bangladesh. These stones were the raw materials of the Chhatak Cement Factory. Many may not know that one of the best cements in the world was produced in this cement factory in Sylhet.
After stopping the extraction of stones, this factory has been rendered immobile. After stopping the extraction of stones in the name of protecting the environment, India got the opportunity to store stones in its part. It established hundreds of quarries there. By closing down Bangladesh's quarries, India sells an average of $500-700 million worth of crushed stone to Bangladesh annually.
