One of the last high-profile hold-outs has finally decided to return to his team. All-Pro Running-Back Melvin Gordon is expected to return to the Chargers facility today without anymore negotiations regarding his current contract.

Gordon was scheduled to make 5.6 million dollars this year, however for the past few months, the running-back was requesting an increase in his current salary. The Chargers offered nearly double what he was currently making (with 10 million dollars per year) which included a multi-year contract. However, the running-back decided to hold-out (or stop playing football altogether for the Chargers organization).

Gordon felt that he was being underpaid. He desired a contract similar to Todd Gurley (Rams), David Johnson (Cardinals), Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys), and Le'Veon Bell (Jets). The contracts of those running-backs that I just mentioned were around 15 million dollars per year.

At one point, the Chargers even granted the running-back permission to seek a trade, but their was no interest from any other teams during his lengthy hold-out.

On a positive note, the Chargers are ranked 13th in regards to their running attack (out of 32 teams). However with Gordon, the Charger's running game will most likely enter the top 10.

Overall, with a dynamic player like Gordon, it will likely mean that the Chargers will win a few more games this year (and most importantly the team will probably make the playoffs for a second year in a row).

Instead of getting paid,
Gordon will pay back some of the money by holding out through penalty.
Gordon is not Zeke, or as good as Zeke.
At least he tries.

I would definitely agree. Gordon is no Ezekiel Elliott.

Glad I drafted him in the 6th round in my fantasy league. Potential home run. Now I need Aj Green to come back.

Not bad for a sixth rounder!
I got Mark Ingram as my running-back in my fantasy league.

Of course the team looks to collect, even if they negotiate a reduction, it is the Spanos family.

That's awesome. You definitely know your football. I been watching the Spanos family for over 20 years. They ripped some of the soul out of San Diego when he moved the Chargers to Los Angeles.
