Today's day and the fun experience of Infection Prevention Quiz Game
Greetings of the day,
Today's entire day passed in a different rhythm. As soon as we reached the hospital early in the morning, we saw the usual hustle and bustle, but inside there was a different excitement because today we, along with the nursing team, pharmacists and admin staff, had organized a small quiz game on infection prevention. It was also in my mind that I don't know how everyone will feel, but as soon as it started, the atmosphere changed. Sometimes such moments are found which fill the whole day with light and familiarity, that is what I felt today.

When everyone gathered, there was a little hesitation in the beginning, as if everyone was thinking that this would be just a formal activity, but after the very first round, the atmosphere became so open that everyone started coming forward to give their answers. The nursing staff are already knowledgeable in topics related to infection control, but today the pharmacists also gave very good answers, and the admin team also showed their understanding. Many times it happened that as soon as a question was asked, three or four people started answering together and then started laughing and listening to each other.

We kept the quiz very light in nature—like the five moments of hand hygiene, the correct sequential technique for donning and doffing PPE, the correct color-code of biomedical waste, small points related to antibiotic stewardship, and some real-life situational questions. The funny thing was that on some tricky questions everyone became so concentrated as if it was an exam hall, and as soon as the correct answer was given, the whole group immediately said “Oh yes!” He would laugh after saying this. Moments like these really increase team bonding.

The best part of this quiz was that no one felt that it was just training. Everyone felt as if we were playing a game together, where learning was fun and moments were spent together. Many times we get so engrossed in hospital work, patient responsibilities and daily hustle and bustle that little learning moments remain. Today's activity also filled that gap.

In the end we just thought that small activities like this really bring the team together and also makes a topic like infection prevention easier. Everyone learns, but the way of learning sometimes makes it memorable – today was exactly the same day. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm of all three teams – Nursing, Pharmacy and Admin. Hopefully next time everyone will sit together again with more good ideas and learn.
