Grain Run, Butterfly, Opal, Fire, Bread, Last Wrestling Practice - Monday

Yesterday morning I was in town bright and early to pickup a load of grain and drop some empty barrels. As I headed for the Stream Plant I drove by the Davenport and 3 big buses with a slew of unmarked cop cars surrounding them. I presume it was one of the NCAA women's teams in town as Stanford just played.

I had 5 barrels to get and quickly loaded them up as a train went rumbling by overhead.

I stopped at the other brewery to to drop a couple empties before heading for home. It's the season for the complete assholes to be out on the road again, the ones who think it is their job to be traffic cops or who drive like complete self centered douches. The road is not yours, the whole point is that you get out of the way of those who want to go the speed limit. I never understand how people feel it is their job to control traffic. Get the hell out of everyone's way and stop being a waste of space.

I made it home by 6am and was able to get out for the normal morning. I got J to school then finished my post once home. The trailer waited to get unloaded for a couple hours until it had warmed a bit.

I mashed the trailer back through the slop and dumped the barrels near the fence and the birds were immediately on top of it.

After unhooking the trailer I was at my computer when I saw this butterfly land on the screen right outside. I managed to get the slider opened and a few shots. It's the first one I have seen this year so far.

I got my laundry run through the wash and dried before putting everything away. It's so much easier to take them from the dryer and put them away so i don't have to do it some other time.

The opal I got had a bunch of clay still stuck to it and I spent some time on the deck in the sunlight chipping away all the stuff NOT opal. I scrubbed it in the water with a brush which got some more of the stuff off. I am slowly working on it and I hope to be able to work it down to having a nice clear top surface. The structure looks like I might be able to make it happen but I will need to come up with some lapidary grit to try taking the discoloration off.

While I worked on the opal I had the hose in the tub doing an overflow fill, then added the chems to get it to proper level and covered it to keep heating. It made it to temp by mid afternoon, thanks to the weather being warmer, it didn't have to work nearly as hard.

I had the fire going again for much of the day. I will likely get it going again today to keep working on the debris and various stuff that needs to go around the farm.

Mid afternoon I got a batch of bread going in the bread machine. I went to check on it after the first rise and it was just about pushing the lid up it was so active. The bread baked while we were at practice.

I also got the meatloaf in the oven that @stryeyz had made Sunday.

We ate dinner then headed up to the boy's last wrestling practice of the year. There weren't many kids there, only about 30, and they spent the first part doing relay races.

The first was to drag the bag to the wall and back and it was all R could do to move it quickly.

J is bigger so it was a good bit easier for him.

Another round was forward rolls to the wall and backwards rolls back. The backwards rolls were pretty funny to watch them attempt. Some got it quick and others had no clue how to get their legs to swing over them and use the momentum to help flip their bodies.

The end of the practice was laces, freeze tag, and wrestling bouts on the other mat. Their last tournament is on the 9th. There will be wrestling camps this summer but we will see if they have any wish to do them when it gets closer.

Got home from practice and the boys went to soak quick and then once they were ready for bed I went out. With my early morning I was not staying out too long.

I slept for crap this morning but it is a sunny morning so still have to get going on work around the farm. I'll get the fire going and add to over the day, I need to get a small pen built for the chicks so they have outside area to roam, I should get to tilling the areas that I can, and maybe get a couple small rows of spinach planted.

So bright and early, and so energetic. Wow! 5am on the road and then you still bake bread, cook dinner and take the kids to their wrestling practice, unbelievable. You have my utmost respect❤️💕🤗

Thank you! It really helps that I am a morning person, my body wakes me up naturally at 5am every morning and earlier if I have to go to town. It's nice not needing an alarm clock.

Now you've got me wondering whether I was ever capable of doing a backwards somersault. Ha ha!

It's much easier to try on the wrestling mats where it is good and soft.

Still far too cold here to get anything done outside...
