Grain Run, Packed Wrestling Tournament, Empty Grain, Fire, Zags Blowout - Saturday
Yesterday morning I was up stupid early again and out the door well before 5am. I hit the first brewery and dropped the empties before heading down to grab the grain at the other brewery.
Even at 5am the stupid road construction gets in the way but I managed to get to the smaller brewery where I had a barrel and a partial to pickup. I loaded the big barrel into the truck and then shoveled grain atop it until it was brim full. The rest of the partial barrel got dumped on the trailer where it made the ride home just fine since it was still soaking wet. Once home I dropped the trailer and then parked the truck until we got home from the tournament.
I had driven right past the school to go get grain so the drive was super mellow and we got to the school in time to find parking in the minimal spaces available. The boys got weighted in and we managed to squeeze ourselves into a spot on the bleachers. SOOOOOO many people packed into the tiny spaces, at least the place felt tiny with the hoards of bodies.
Both boys had a much harder tournament. J lost his bouts, the first was fast but the second he managed to make it through most of the match. It is just so hard to catch up to 3 years of wrestling that other kids have had.
R Lost his first match, won his second match, then lost his third. These are shots from his second match.
It was rather a relief when they were both done and we quickly got packed up and headed for the outside. It was such a wonderful experience to walk out of the insane cacophony of sound. It was full on like stepping out of a concert and having the ringing in the ears.
We stopped on picked up Panda on the way home as a bit of a come down from the morning.
After eating I headed out and got the grain emptied out. I got the truck backed into the pen but the wheels sunk pretty far into the grain which made it fun to get the truck pulled back out as it wanted to wallow around and tried to hit the pallets. I managed with only a slight tap on the rear quarter panel.
I got a fire going in the pit for the evening which I used to burn up the branches that I had cut from the bushes by the lilacs. We had oodles of leftover from the prior night for dinner then watched as the Zags got their asses handed to them on a UConn platter. It was a rather sad game to watch and one of the worst scoring game in Zags history.
Today I am not sure what is going to be happening. I have been up for 3 hours already thanks to my dumb body but it is just now getting light out.
