The Melt, Wrestling Practice, Trailer - Thursday

Woke up yesterday to over a quarter inch of rain in the gauge and above freezing temps. The rain overnight helped keep the fog at bay and it was drizzling when we went out.

It drizzled for a good part of the morning then it rained for all of mid day. With J at school R and I were in the house most of the day. I finished cleaning up the floor in the living room, organized some more in the kitchen and made more floor space, went through a few lessons on my mandolin, then picked J up from school. Once we got back I checked the gauge and we had another .28" of rain since 7:00am.

All the rain has done wonders to melt the ice on the driveway. The gravel seems to really be helping as well since without it we would probably be iced over for another week or more. The places that I drive that don't have gravel still have a fairly thick layer of ice.

The last practice before their tournament tomorrow and as usual they all ran full blast all around the mats before warmups started.

Leg lifts are fun to watch the kids struggle with.

The goal of the practice was to get them working on the various means of escape, take downs, and drilling both up and down positions.

J and his classmate M did good on all of it and I just need to try to get J to sprawl his legs a bit more to get away easier.

Breaking the grip to escape for a point.

It was cool when the coach came over and watched them and was happy with what he saw. The tournament will be interesting. It is an hour drive to the school and there are so many kids that there will be two gyms used, one for 5/6 and one for 7/8 year olds. Weigh ins are early and parking is slim so we want to be there on the early side.

Once home I got the trailer hooked up for getting grain this morning.

The boys soaked in the nicely chlorinated water to degrime before bed.

I have been to town this morning for grain and still have to empty it out. The rains have stopped and it is supposed to clear up today and stay that way through the weekend. I have to get things together for tomorrow, practice on my mandolin, and finish the boy's laundry.

Same here. I wrestled and played soccer in elementary school then ran cross country in high school. Then I discovered rock climbing.

Glad your ice is melting! I think it's the worst to deal with.
