UK Open, Man Utd Flop, Sunshine, Yearly Weather, Thawing, Batch Of Tortillas, Fire, Grilling - Sunday

It was a chilly morning yesterday as it was 20F when I got up. The lack of clouds overnight had let the temps fall but once the sun ca,e up the temps quickly began to rise and the snow began to melt rather quickly. The eaves were a line of rivers of melt off diving off the edge.

The UK darts open finished up during the day and I had high hopes for Ricky Evans but he went out in the semi-finals.

It was the Manchester derby and wow did Utd suck massively. I knew it was to be a blowout and Utd took their time in getting to the loss, but once they started it was just an onslaught and they were shown to be the amateurs they are.

Dimitri Van Den Berg ended up winning the tournament and his first title in years. He beat Luke Humphries barely as he almost threw the match away when he was up 10-7. Good to see someone different win the title rather than the normal handful of players.

The morning sun was super bright and very welcome.

It's a bit hard to see but this is the year over year chart for our farm for rain/snow moisture content. This year we have surpassed all but 2020 at this time. We are currently .5" of water content behind 2020 and this year has been a very steady rise in the total where other years are very stair-stepped this year has a constant rise. This quite clearly shows the seasonal weather trends too.

The chives on the deck are poking up through the snow cover and they never really seem to mind the cold. I have my work cut out this year in removing the weeds from the row of chives in the garden.

Midday I decided to make another batch of tortillas. I made a bit of a mistake as I grabbed the bin of quinoa flower after the pea protein powder and put 2 cups in before I realized I had the wrong flower. The other 3 cups were regular flour so they ended up coming out a bit grainier than other batches.

The quinoa flower adds a lot more protein to the mix though which is good for snacking. The dough pressed a bit different as there was less gluten in it so I didn't roll them out this time.

They cook a bit different as well so I had to adjust my process a little bit to accommodate.

2 dozen tortillas in about 45 minutes is right on my normal time for a batch. They quickly began to vanish as everyone dove in.

Later in the afternoon I went out to get the fire going in the pit for the evening. I got a nice stack of wood burning and it managed to be just enough wood to last through finishing the grilling.

Had Outback opal hunters on for the evening which is rather wild seeing the craziness that is opal hunting in the Aussie outback. The psychos go down bore holes on a bosun seat hung from a winch above. And people think rock climbers are crazy...?

The burgers grilled nicely and I got ham topped on each before removing them and then toasting the buns.

We got out to soak at about our normal time and made it an hour before heading for bed.

It snowed about an inch this morning before dawn and the system has moved off east already. This week will be cold 20F nights and mild 40F+ days which will hopefully melt the snow off for me. Today I have my chiro appointment, boys to and from school, daily lessons to work on, water house plants and greenhouse, then I will have dinner ready early so R can get to wrestling practice.

The weather has changed again and the cold is back. I love this game too, it was so much fun when there was an arrow in the middle.
